So many geeks making videos on YouTube have been stroking over SSTs while ignoring everything else. Even “big names” everyone knows. Makes me want to punch my computer screen.

I thought we'd get above average this year, on fish ACE. But since the subtropics have either been bone dry or a meat grinder, not a lot of faith now.

I share your anger at the clickbait too. Its August, we know its fricking hot, even if exceptionally so this year. The only questions that matter are shear, dry air, and overall steering.

Didn't want to start a new thread.

I check radarscope a lot, but have never seen anything like this. Marsh fires?

I’m surprised NHC hasn’t given 91L a PTC tag since it’s going to impact land. When they get bored they’ll usually do that especially with systems in the Gulf. Unless they think they’ll TD it soon enough that it doesn’t matter.

Where do you stay?

I'm in EBR Millerville/I-12 area...realize there is ONLY a 20% of rain; but now NWS has taken it out of the forecast completely? . But seen it happen before...some quick passing downpours would be nice with a 20-30mph breeze!

This High Pressure on steroids is no joke! 106 Thursday?

Looking more stout in the SE Gulf

It appears to be this one:

quote:

Buck Stephenson said he received a call around 7 last night from his neighbor saying part of his property near Big Lake had caught fire.

“I was going to bed last night and my neighbor called, he works for the local parish here and was going to close a Warf off, and said it look like it had a fire in one our marshes so I came out here and sure enough it was ablaze,” Stephenson said.

quote:

Grand Lake Fire Chief Toby Landry said crews believe it started as an intentional marsh fire.

Intentional marsh fires are common in Cameron Parish, but he says not allowed under the statewide burn ban.

Landry said they have not been able to identify where the fire started and who is responsible.

I am at MSY performing aviation observations. Just had a towering cumulus cloud with maybe very small shower about 13 miles southwest of Kenner. Sorry folks. More clouds here than yesterday when ASOS hit 100 F. Clouds keeping the temperature a couple degrees cooler today

The heat dome will eventually move. When that happens the Gulf will become active-- very active.
