I think everyone involved realizes that crowd/traffic/logistics/resources are going to be a major problem, as we’ve both said the primary driver isn’t that as long as they don’t exceed insurance issues it’s making money for the league and networks.

I’m sure local businesses have thoughts on it impacting what should’ve been two full days of major revenue generation as well but that’s all secondary or tertiary.

While I don't discount the possibility of nefarious motivations from any number of parties involved, part of me finds it refreshing to see them holding firm to the game at this point and not jumping the gun now, given the number of variables involved. With the understanding that this thing could be pretty bad for a lot of folks, or little more than kind of a nothingburger, either of which will be known by tomorrow night, with enough time to make the call then.

Hopefully it gets choked out just before landfall, and it does minimal to zero damage to the power grid. Hurricanes suck.

Can I please get a list or chart of all of the climate activist's scientific predictions of the different coming glooms and disasters over the last 40 years, and how history shows they actually worked out?

I'm not sure how failed future predictions would confirm or deny the simple truth that average measured surface temperatures are going up at an increasing rate today.

You seem confident. Ask better questions.

Been trying to tell the Gumps this for days. They will not hear any of it. They act like this is a summer shower sprinkling Tuscaloosa

The obvious solution is to play the UGA-ALA game on Sunday with no fans allowed due to the shortage of emergency/police resources.....

Sorry, Gumps.

It is not an easy decision to make or take lightly. It can 100% turn into a damned if you do/damned if you don't sort of deal. They can wait a bit longer and see. So far, I think they've communicated well enough.

He's starting to get an eye on the visible. Will be much easier/more fun to track now that the eye is starting to open.

Opel took basically the same route back in the 1990s. As far as Montgomery (which is not that far from Tuscaloosa), they got 90 mph winds, massive power outages, and tornadoes.

It's supposed to go up that way Saturday morning. They're not playing this game Saturday night

Opal made landfall near Navarre Beach moving north/northeast on a Montgomery to Gadsden to just west of Chattanooga line. This storm will be moving north/northwest on a Pensacola Beach to Demopolis to Columbus, MS line. Big difference

Opal was a high end Cat 4 that weakened to a low end Cat 3 (around 115 mph) at landfall and had a near record forward speed for a landfalling Gulf hurricane. It was moving at about 30 mph just after hitting Navarre Beach and accelerated even further in forward speed as it rocketed through the length of the state after that. That's why it was still a hurricane as the core of the storm clipped the eastern side of the Montgomery area. This one will weaken to down to at worst a high end Cat 2 and won't be moving inland quite as fast as Opal did.

This storm (as currently forecasted) will be crossing the Hwy 80/I-85 corridor about 100 miles west of where Opal did and barring it strengthening to a much stronger storm than is currently forecasted it shouldn't be anywhere as damaging as far inland as Opal was.

Sure does look like an eye is about to pop out. Visible sat only, IR not showing it yet.

Meteorologist on the weather channel just said he would almost guarantee that it gets weakened before landfall due to shear

Reminds me of Opal. Similar time of year, development , movement , etc. Hopefully it doesn’t intensify like Opal as it approaches
