I think we’re all aware that there could be damage and power outages that cause issues with the game. The weather will also impact people traveling to the game. That said, it’s also true that looking at just the weather, the bulk of the wind and rain will be gone in time for kickoff. I haven’t seen anyone pretending this is just some afternoon pop up storm.

No matter what happens, this storm will be lost to history because no one will be able to pronounce it's name.

James Spann been doing a lot of lip service in media, I assume in the face of a lot of local pressure to keep game schedule as is. He posted the below just a few hours ago:

quote:

FOOTBALL WEATHER: The weather looks favorable for Saturday night's Alabama/Georgia game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa (6:30p CT kickoff). Lingering clouds, an outside risk of a passing shower or two, and winds less than 15 mph.

I seriously doubt he actually believes that statement in the definitive way it’s made. So many variables at play after the center of the low pushes thru. Disregards the forecasted gusts of 70+ mph forecast just hours before that time mark. Also disregards the variable potential bands that flow thereafter.

Dangerous game being played here and I’m not talking about football.

“Impact”

To affect or influence: To have a powerful effect, change, or result on a person, group, or situation (e.g., "The new rules will impact local businesses.").

Models have indicated a dry slot working in from the southwest as the center pulls north into northwest Alabama/northeast Mississippi.

He’s also said there could be lingering showers. Point is that the worst weather should be pulling away by game time. Obviously the aftermath could be an issue, as well, but from a purely weather standpoint conditions will be improving.

No one is acting like it’s ideal.

In fact it’s likely killing the on campus vibe for one of the biggest games of the year.

Most people are just trying to explain that if insurance allows it ABC/ESPN wants this game kicking off Saturday night so the league office is going to make it happen behind the scenes damn the fans.

If they were going to move the game without being forced by insurance or the governor to do so they already would’ve.

Agreed! I had some Gumps text me that earlier and it’s so nonchalant that it seems like he didn’t even write it.

I don’t think they want 200k coming into Tuscaloosa due to crowd control and are more than fine if many stay home.

ABC wants their ad dollars so they’re probably so far up the league offices arse to get this played on time that they don’t care if the stadium is empty to do it.

By crowd control, you mean public safety and allocation of first responder resources.

That logic contradicts keeping game as scheduled.

I agree that your second paragraph is the reason. This is all being dictated by the ABC executives.

Can I please get a list or chart of all of the climate activist's scientific predictions of the different coming glooms and disasters over the last 40 years, and how history shows they actually worked out? TIA.

I would like specific predictions, not general, sweeping, broad Greta-speak.

I think everyone involved realizes that crowd/traffic/logistics/resources are going to be a major problem, as we’ve both said the primary driver isn’t that as long as they don’t exceed insurance issues it’s making money for the league and networks.

I’m sure local businesses have thoughts on it impacting what should’ve been two full days of major revenue generation as well but that’s all secondary or tertiary.

And many pregnancies will be started during the power outage. Trust the science.

I guess that is why God gave men penises and women vaginas, so they have something to do when the power is out.
