Aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7), and amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LHD-21) and guided missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG-99), are underway moving into position to assist with Hurricane Irma recovery efforts if needed, U.S. Fleet Forces command said on Friday.
The storm, which has already savaged several Caribbean islands, including the U.S. Virgin Islands, could make landfall in Florida by Sunday, according to the National Weather Service’s latest hurricane track. Hurricane warning has already been issued for the southern part of the state.
Lincoln left Norfolk Friday, but without a full air wing. The carrier is loaded with additional helicopters to help with rescue and supplies delivery mission, according to a Navy spokesman.

If you've been following the thread you'll understand the frustration.
I understand some of it but these things are so unpredictable sometimes, you should understand some of the anxiety from some of these people

Didn't either Euro or GFS have Naples in the cross hairs 3-4 days ago before it shifted back to a right on Miami hit?

All things considered, I think they've been tracking this storm really well and did a pretty decent job with Harvey too. People want to be told exactly what is going to happen.
For the most part the EURO has only been off by miles.

This thread needs rds dc's in depth posts to clarify and eliminate all of this "clutter" we have going on.
He's made numerous posts explaining the steering the models are showing. I've made a couple, so has slack. Levi Cowen has discussed it for days on his youtube video. The scientists at the NHC have explained it. The fact is, people want to see what they want to see.

Will (the ground on) Key West be submerged?
Key West will turn into a situation like we're seeing in BVI and USVI. The road there will surely be wiped out. At least a handful of those bridges are going to be dredged off the bottom, and their ports will be so full of debris nobody will want to send in a relief vessel until it is cleared.

And now that turn is 24-36 hours out, so...
So you're just going to ignore your contradictory advice. Got it

The EURO has crushed this storm.

And people see the track of the storm and seem to ignore the cone. It might be prudent for the NHC to quit including that line of their forecasted track, and just release the cone going forward.

I do, and I'm trying to help. I'm telling them they have no legitimate reason to worry, yet they worry anyway.

Yeah the line I guess is a "best guess" that people take to heart. Katrina's cone being a perfect example

When is next advisory? 2am Eastern? Gotta get more beer.
GF is gonna wake up and I'm all
muttering about how we have to trust the cone

Some F-18 flyovers would be great for morale post-storm. They should have brought them

Is the line the track of model consensus or something?

Guys please also remind yourselves about the sheer size of this storm as well as the size of the Florida Peninsula.

It sure would help with the idiots in this thread.
