this the first time ever a hurricane has touched down as a Cat 5 on two different days?

People were asking if it was going hit the middle of the gulf and then head to LA/TX not run up the west coast of Florida.

Key West is so fricked. Anybody still on that island should be writing their will right now.

Sigh. Now we will have another 10 pages of GOM trolling.
Fixed that for you. God, I wish Rummy had started the serious thread this afternoon.

I think this skips most of Florida and heads for Mobile.
Just my gut feeling

That's West Knoxville for those who do not know. We got tornadoes and some rain with Harvey here in Tuscaloosa and the center of circualtion was easily 150 miles to our west.

It was mandatory evacuation days ago.

Its not hitting Mobile but I love that all the weather genius dickheads in this thread are making fools of themselves. A day ago they would try to laugh you out of the thread for asking if it was getting in the Gulf. And here it is, hitting the West coast of Florida and they're still acting like douche bags
It has become clear that the majority of folks in this thread don't understand how the NHC cone works. I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Will (the ground on) Key West be submerged?

You have about ~18 hours to get your shite together.
From Naples, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, ...looks like the eyewall path...after the 8 pm Sunday position, even up to Tampa it appears the eyewall will go right through there. And yesterday, they thought they were good as far as the highest winds being on the East Coast

This.
There are a shite ton of people who seem disappointed they're not getting the storm right up their arse. I'll never understand it.

I think Irma is following his thread and is adjusting course to hit those that piss her off. Musk was right.

Approximately 300 Marines from the 26th MEU embarked on the USS Iwo Jima for deployment to Florida. Amphibious landing ships USS Oak Hill and USS Kearsarge have been positioned off the east coast of Florida and can provide assistance if help is requested from Gov. Rick Scott, a Pentagon spokesman told The Daily Beast. The USS New York is in reserve and can be assigned to recovery efforts as well.
MEUs are considered America’s 911 force, usually training for combat operations that could arise anywhere around the world. However, they are routinely tasked with humanitarian missions overseas, making hurricanes like Irma familiar missions.
