In all these models, what factor is causing Irma to make a pretty hard right turn and heading north up through Florida?
Or put another way, what is stopping Irma from staying on a straight path and entering the GOM?
As I understand it, there is a cold/high pressure front coming down from the west/northwest while the high pressure to the north is weakening/moving further east. This provides a north avenue for Irma to flow.
To the downvoter, I cancelled you out -

Please tell me she is not in a shelter. I am serious as hell when I say I will go get her tomorrow.
Let a brother know.

What should we be doing instead? This is a message board not a homeland security meeting.

So these islands aren't huge ... where do they put all of the boats and cars and just everything that was blown apart??

Have you heard how the water front area of Cruz Bay fared. We have been there several times and planning a trip next spring. Praying for all who live and work in that beautiful place.

Yea you only have to deal with 120 mph winds. We won't shed any tears for you.

Latest models have it going east of Miami. That's a miracle if it missed Miami all together

On levi's video he just posted, he takes 2 minutes to tell people not to read into models too much; does he surf Tigerdroppings?
He got a little melty earlier today.

Those pics are incredibly horrible. If the resorts took a pounding like that I can only imagine most personal homes are 100% lost. I don't know if I've ever seen palm trees snapped in half. Just damn.

Most of us have firsthand experience with this shite. We're entitled to some dark humor. We'll also be the first to open our checkbooks, and in many cases, shed our personal obligations to go pitch in ourselves.

2 questions
-Is there a spaghetti model that "averages" all the models?
-What is a dropsonde?

ihometiger,
In the photo with the house about collapsing into the water, with the exposed near vertical recently eroded hillside on either side, is that hill side a chalk deposit or a loess deposit? There aren't many materials that make and hold vertical slopes. Most shed soil with water.
