I offered to fly her to NY or La. but she wouldn't go.
So she is with her sister (whom she lives with) at her son's home in Orlando. I suspect I will be driving down next week with a UHAUL, generator, supplies etc. Honestly I'd rather it gets wiped out than heavily damaged because then I cold convince her to come here.

A dropsonde is kinda like a weather balloon except in the opposite direction. Plane drops it and it goes down by parachute and sends data back to the plane about wind speed pressure etc

Can you imagine how hard it is going to be to get construction materials out there? Given how remote these locations are and the amount Houston and Florida will suck up... it is going to be a hell of a logistics nightmare.

See now that I hadn't thought of ... I mean there's no Lowe's or HD around the corner I guess. This sucks on so many levels BUT I'm truly thankful for those who are safe and alive.
