God bless everybody on that island right now. Waking up to seeing that cat 5 storm rotating over the same spot as last night Is horrifying for them. Praying it’s only material things and minimal lives lost.

When they show him, he is playing it up, but just a little. The are saying about 25 sustained and 42 gusts where he is. There is a tree behind him that appears to be blowing about 10, with 20 gusts.

I keep updating the travel board thread, but guess no one is traveling this weekend. For those of you who need help in FL, GA, SC, or NC with flights between now and Friday come on down

Cantore hasn't been in the shite in a decade or more. If Cantore is in your town, you're probably going to lose electricity for a few hours. If one of the independent storm chasers are there, you're fricked.

Spot on. It’s blowing about 5-10 mph with 15-20 mph gusts in West Palm right now.

And being realistic I highly doubt anyone is getting 180+ plus for hours on end. I get the usefulness off weather pros using a tornado comparison, but it seems a bit misleading.

Grand Bahama is getting 150+ for hours on end. This will continue for the next 24 hours or more.

That lime green model really doesn’t want to converge to the others.

So when recovery starts on these islands, where does the debris go?? I mean it’s an island. Even if they have dumps, the dumps are screwed. Just make new dumps??

I’m assuming US will ship equipment and supplies?

They say you’re not supposed to use you hazards in a storm. I guess now we see why.

Combination of Labor Day drivers and the evacuation has the interstate a bit clogged leaving Charleston.

I’m sure they just dump it offshore.

If Dorian stays stationary, Freeport is likely to be spared the worst of Dorian. 80 kt winds in the western/SW part of the storm were 18 miles from the center of Dorian on the last radar pass. 100kt+ winds were 12 miles from the center. Freeport is still 20+ miles from the center.

Is the weather there fun? Hell no, and the surge will be bad regardless, but thr catastrophic winds are still a few miles away. Hopefully they never arrive.

I'm sure we will, but they were a British colony until 1973, so hopefully the Brits and some other countries will step up as well.

I don't believe so. At this point 165 is the max they could find and that's in a relatively small area. 150+ for hours, doubtful. 90 to at times 165 for hours. Not good either way.

This gif is nearly 3.5 hours long. Dorian is going to continue to do this for another 18-24 hours. Jesus.
