Decent area or am I gonna get shot? Taking the wife to a concert at NRG in May but I’ve been told the NRG area isn’t safe. Looking at a hotel near the Toyota Center but is that a bad area too? Yes, I realize this is like asking what area of New Orleans is safe.

ive stayed downtown and walked to and from the toyota center with no issue. there are a few bums hanging around especially around main street but not bad. way less than say canal street in new orleans.

I’ve stayed at the Hilton right there before and I’ve never really had issues. You are going to see your homeless but you are in downtown.

You drive everyday during the work week into Baton Rouge and you’re worried about Houston being safe?

A little sketchy in parts on the east side of 59. Lots of homeless living under the interstate.

Stay at ZaZa...you can hop on the MetroRail with 5 other homeless dudes and get to NRG easy.

unless you have plans for downtown I wouldn't stay there. not that its dangerous, but not much to do if you aren't going to an astros game or something.

Stay at zaza in the museum district, or galleria area if you want to do more shopping.

You won't get robbed at gunpoint there for but you might get asked for some spare change by a bum

it is not at all like that.

Toyota center is fine, especially when an event is going on.

You will see hobos and all that

Hilton, weston or Marriot are all right there a

Thanks. I was wondering also. Stayed at downtown for Minute Maid but never done NRG concert. Walking to Minute Maid from hotel in theater district was fine.

Any of the hotels in the Discovery Green park area are nice and that’s adjacent to the Toyota Center. They really developed that area for the Super Bowl a few years ago. Lots of restaurant, bars, the park is nice, and overall pretty safe. You can also take the rail system down to NRG from there.

Just don’t cross back under hwy 59 or over towards Minute Maid as those areas get dicey.

Neither of those areas are unsafe, NRG in particular. You may see some homeless around the Toyota Center but nothing too crazy.

I wouldn’t drive there because parking is a headache though and Uber is easier (nothing to do with safety though).

Safety wise it’s fine. Just can be dead when nothing is going on.

Just got back from concerts in Houston. Stayed at Blossom hotel near the medical ctr close to NRG very nice, new hotel, reasonably priced, and I didn't see sketchy people around there. Took Lyft around town
