Im in outside sales for a very large company and yesterday our VP gave a state of the union call. He said no more air travel for the remainder of 2020 and said we will be taking a careful look at ALL travel moving forward to cut back on expenses.

I wonder how many companies will be doing the same now that their employees are doing video meetings and getting lots done from home.

I won’t get to go to a bar after work and watch either Thursday night football or Monday night football until at least 2021

That sounds more like it has to do with cutting expenses, and less to do with work from home efficiency.

I worked from home before working from home was cool and I’m blessed enough to have a career that isn’t really affected by economic downturns. As long as COVID doesn’t frick up the internet, I will experience no change.

Travel will change, for sure. But I’ll be able to cancel the trips that I don’t want, and keep the good ones.

I expect that most of my employees will want to keep working from home.

I wish we'd get more autonomy to not be physically in our desk 40 hours a week, but I won't hold my breathe.

If my company does that, I’m out of a job. I travel nonstop for work. Right now I’m grounded through mid-May, but I’m expected to get back on the road by June. I just bought a new condo in February, so perfect timing as well.

We have been way busier, our production is up 25%, but we offer online services, so this has been good for my work, if not for my life.

My job will not change from a company standpoint, I've been working from home for 12+yrs or so, but it will change relative to how the overall business climate changes and how we adapt as a company.

That said, corporate HR sent out a survey this morning. You know, confidential and anonymous (but if it's anonymous, why does it need to be confidential?). We've all received them at one time or another. But reading between the lines, it appears they are fishing on how to make whatever changes they want to. I just see more office based people continuing to work remotely.

All I got...

Currently, there are no engineers or upper management working in the plant. Every day is like a weekend. We’re breaking production goals.

We’ll go back to normal in June and production will halt due to engineering dept thinking of new and improved ways to produce more.

I’m a pilot but I fly corporate so if anything I’ll probably be busier as company personnel will want to avoid commercial air travel as much as possible. I feel bad for all my buddies at the airlines that only a few months ago were sitting pretty.
