I had a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. That fricker broke down on me like 8 times before they finally found out what was wrong with it. It was ridiculous.

If they were such pieces of shite, why are their retail market so high for used ones? Why do you see used jeeps selling for 15k+ for a vehicle with over a 100k miles on it?

Have an 05 soft top. Love it. Like others have said, the reason people work on them a lot is Bc they’re modding them out or because they see extensive trail use.

Dude, get him something cheaper. Why the frick do parents spend money on a car that's probably going to get beat up or wrecked?
wranglers hold value, so you aren't finding a 2015 wrangler in any price range suitable for a child.
I bought my first wrangler for $2000. Needed work, but I worked on it with my dad from 15 to 16. New brakes, radiator, went to pull apart and got new side mirrors, they were cracked. Thing lasted me until college, sold it and bought a sedan for the long drives to Baton Rouge.

They're Chrysler products. Stay away. I would love to have a Renegade but I'd have a hard time paying good money for something from Chrysler.

Jeeps are dope. I had a 2002 two door for my first vehicle. I always told myself I would buy another and have one for the rest of my life. When I graduated college and my parents stopped paying for repairs, I quickly realized how unreliable they really are.

I've been having my Jeep for 8 years (80k miles) and the only issue I have encountered is a tire sensor issue. And it's more of an annoyance than an actual issue, I just can't use cruise control. It's an easy fix, I just haven't gotten around to doing it because I never drive it anywhere that I would use cruise control anyway.
ETA: When I get another vehicle I'm going to keep my Jeep as a secondary vehicle.

I have a Jeep JK, 3rd wrangler, This one has a V8 because the factory engine blew and Fiat is a bitch company.
They are very easy to work on and any mechanic can do almost any repair on it, so that is a plus.
I do love my jeep though, but it is an extra vehicle, not a DD

I've had 2, a 2000 2 door and 2010 4 door and never even once had any repairs on either. If you buy them right you can usually sell them for about what you paid for them.

We sold a 2001 Cherokee with a 4.0 I6 because my bride wanted a FJ (hunting truck only). Big mistake on our part, nothing but problems with the FJ due to check engine light. Every time we repair one reason for it to come on another will show up. Now they tell us we need to spend $2000 for converters

sorry to read all the negative comments and learn of the demise of Jeep products, we bought a ‘96 Grand Cherokee Laredo new for the wife (no pics), she put over 100K on it before we gave it our son for high school and college then our daughter (no pics) drove it through high school and college, sold it in 2017 for $1000 with over 275K miles on it, never had a major problem with routine maintenance, lil red was a tank!

I owned a 1995 jeep wrangler when I was in college in 2001 and drove it until I moved to NYC in 2007. It had over 100k miles on it.
The only issues I ever had was when I was dumb and took it off reading and broke shite. Other than that I had no issues at all. And as a poster said earlier, the jeep community is great.
