How much would you have to be overcharged to go back in a store to get it fixed?

Let's say you're already back in your car but haven't left the parking lot. For the sake of the hypothetical, you didn't check your receipt until you were outside.

And on the opposite side, is there a dollar value big enough that you'd go back in and speak up if you weren't charged for something?

Hard to say a dollar amount, because +10 on a $20 item is a bigger deal than +10 on a $1000 item.

I pay my personal assistant 20 an hour. Would take her probably 6+ minutes to do the return. So about....

3.50

Actually this is a flawed way of thinking. It's 10 dollars to you either way. This is one of the rare cases where you should probably ignore the %

If you were overcharged 10 dollars for something that is 20 or 1000 and the effort to get the 10 dollars back is equal then it doesn't matter what the cost of the item was

I agree, but still that's sort of my line of thinking. It honestly depends on too many other things. But you're correct in that it shouldn't matter.

Only if it was a self check out issue and was my mistake. If they made the mistake then I’m not wasting my time to fix it, knowing damn well they will take forever to finally charge me for what they missed.

Not in my vehicle but I wasted a good 15 minutes talking a kid out of giving me $100 change when I only deserved $41

I rarely ever take a receipt. If I am not alarmed by my total when paying it prob isn't worth going back in IF I had a receipt and noticed I was over charged. With exception of groceries I generally know what my total will be when making a purchase.

I'm cheap. I've gone back for $5 before, but lately I'm getting exhausted with everything ringing up for more than what's on the shelf tag. Pricing coordinators can't seem to keep up with inflation. Went to Petco last week and everything was about a dollar or more than the tag said.

I've also gone back when I didn't get charged for an all-clad skillet. Sure the store could eat the cost, but that's not how I want to go about my life

Depends. Sometimes a dollar us enough. Especially if it's a store that consistently does it.

With gas at $5 a gallon, it has to be more than that for me to waste my time.

If I’m still at the store and needed it then I’m going back to get it fixed.
