Even If he’s not lying he’s kind of dumb to do that.

Whatever anybody says on here, you can divide it by 6 and take 30% of that, and you will have the correct answer.

Ideally, about 6 times our monthly bills in savings, and a few thousand in the checking.

I don't really have a set plan but I realized I basically do exactly this, about 5-6 times.

Anything else is put to use paying down mortgage as well as extra on car payments to knock those out quicker.

I typically keep enough in my checking to get me through the month, and 1-2 months of bills in Savings. I have 1 years worth of bills in fairly liquid investments.

I keep next to nothing sitting in a bank where it's making the bank money instead of making me money. Maybe a paycheck's worth, so about $350.

Makes more sense, screw the bank, have mine set up to where I’d never bounce a check but they don’t get free use of very much of my pesos

Such a group of posturing absolutes. I can tell by your indignation how grande of OT ballers you actually all are. Everyone’s situation is different.

No, I do not spend 100k in a month. But if I’m saving up for a large purchase, it makes sense to let the cash build up. The account never goes above the 200k amount, and if it did, I would stash extra with the CFP. 50 seems to be the sweet spot for me.

My savings account does earn something like 1.25%. A lot less than what is going on in my brokerage account, but it's still more than nothing.

EDIT: Correction. Just checked it. It's at 1.5%

It's not bragging because it's dumb. Why would you let a large amount of money sit in a savings account earning nothing?

It may be dumb, it may not be. Some people have a lot of expenses so their emergency fund needs to be more than what yours might need to be.

There are better relatively liquid vehicles for your money, so I wouldn't personally have 200k in a savings account, but 50k isn't a big deal.
