Trust me I’m not either, which is part of the reason I keep a nice pad. Still not sure what I owe from 17’. Meeting with CPA soon.

For me, it's between 50-200k. Not bragging either.

I hope this isn’t true. If so, you are stupid.

$10k in savings. It’s an emergency fund that I try to never dip into and gets replenished first thing if I do.

My checking account is usually between $2-4k. Everything extra either gets invested (or goes toward or vacation/luxury/house renovation) fund.

Household income (just wife and I) is ~185k FWIW

The truth is I treat it as an “operating account” for my personal finances not including business. So if I have 200k sitting for 6 months with no anticipated large expenditures, I would likely dump 100k to the CFP for long term investment.

If all it was ever going to do was appreciate by what I deposited, I would never let it just sit as it would be losing money daily in terms of time value of money, once depreciation and loss of earning potential is calculated.

Often times though we keep a big balance cause we know we will make large purchases sooner than later.

It’s funny how black and white everyone is on this issue though.
