I used my deceased mother’s diamond and just had to buy the band. Spent about $1400 including the appraisal which valued the ring at just over 12K.

$4k about 15 years ago...off of eBay. Dude's engagement blew up, he was stuck with a 1.5ct gorgeous ring and another .75ct band that he needed to sell.

Had it appraised for insurance and jeweler said retail at the time would've been around $9k. Told him what I paid and he said I got a hell of a deal.

Wife is happy. I'm happy. Dude who lost his fiance is happy.

It was 1.01 Princess Cut, Signature Ideal Cut, H Color and SI1 Clarity...$3,699.00

Setting was $1,150

So $4,849.00 total.

I was pretty much comfortable but essentially check to check when I got mine.

I was in grad school and working. It’s all I could scrape up at the time. How I scraped up 5K I have no idea. Must have been 3 paycheck month when I got it.

Hell, the fact she didn’t get one that was plastic was a near miracle.

Sixteen years ago I spent 600 bucks. Two years ago I spent 1600 bucks after the stone fell out of the piece of shite I bought her when we were engaged. Found it at the local pawn shop.
