My wife asked for a 2nd wedding band for our 10th anniversary so I took hers to the place I bought it. Damn thing was like double what it cost a decade earlier.
Did this at 25 years and that was triple, but I came out on top with a new $37K boat.

It’s a good test. Spend 1-2 thousand on it. If she’s not happy, she’s not a keeper

Mine is doing fine with her little ring! She’s got a very expensive car, two kids in private school, a giant house, and buys pretty much whatever she wants whenever she wants. I offered to get one made exactly like hers but with a bigger center and surrounding diamonds, but she said that her ring has to much sentimental value for her to replace it.
When we got engaged it did not make financial sense to sink that much into a ring, we put it towards other things that have paid off way more than the more expensive ring would have.

These prices are making me think I should just dump my GF and just have friends with benefits. Social security ain't gonna be there when I get 67 and these "real" diamonds are gonna depreciate because of the lab diamonds.

$7.8K, no finance, but drained a good part of savings at the time.

Kind of depends on your financial situation, doesn't it? $10k to you isn't as important as $10k to others.

A little less than 35k. I'd say worth it so far.

Take it for what it’s worth but wife number one I spent a shade over 12k because she “needed” that much of a ring.
Was this your wife’s hand size?

i'm actually more curious about the stats involved
like what kind of setting/how many carats?
what was the size/clarity/color/cut of the diamond?
etc
