You know, I’d never seen my grandpa cry in all my 15 years but as he said these words to her, his eyes filled up with tears…
If you get there before I do, don’t give up on me
I’ll meet you when my chores are through
I don’t know how long I’ll be
But I’m not gonna let you down
Darling, wait and see
And between now and then, til I see you again,
I’ll be loving you,
Love, me

Serious answer, I saw my grandfather cry the day my uncle, his son, was buried. First time I saw my dad lose it was the day the hospital called to say it was time to get there because his dad was slipping away.
This is a depressing thread.

That sounds crazy. I can't imagine getting 30 relatives to vacation together.

Dad? Once when his momma died. It was tears but no real weeping. He was stoic.

Grandpa 1 time in the church at my grandma’s funeral. To this day it’s the saddest thing I’ve EVER seen. This was one hard dude, farmed for over 70 years in Mississippi all the way up until his death. I didn’t even think it was possible for him to cry. He and my grandma got married at 18.

I’ve never seen my dad cry.

Saw Dad twice:

We had to put down one of our horses when I was about 7 or 8. He had that horse since his early 20's and he was almost 40. Had a hole dug with a backhoe and led to horse over to it and lights out (injection).

Second time was parking lot at Camp Lejeune circa 2005 right before I left for Iraq.

Never for both grandpas
My dad lost his mother at 25. I never met her but he cries just about every time we put flowers on her grave. Worst was at my paw paw’s funeral.
Have seen my father in law cry once.
My brother at his wife’s funeral and my son’s wedding.
My husband at birth of our last child. He didn’t cry for first two. Not sure why last one got to him

Old man refused to buy any one thing made in Japan .

IMO, seeing an old man cry is one of the saddest things out there, no matter if you know him or not.

Grandpa: never (but I never knew them very well)

Dad: I’ve never seen him truly cry. But choke up? Lots of times He’s a big softy. Usually during sentimental movies or when talking about how much he cares for my mom. And at my wedding.

Grandpaw. Once at my maw maws funeral. He was sitting at the funeral home shaking every old Cajun mans hand who new him. It was like a procession. He saw me try to do the same (like a man but about 15) and lost it. His old mechanic hand swallowed my hand and he cried and said a little in French and a little English. “It hurts too bad. What am I gonna do?”

15 year old me could not handle that shite. I was proud that I remained standing and hugged him back. Walked away for the next person. Made it to the hallway and squalled like a girl. Trying not to make a sound while bawling is painful.

My dad cried when the same grandfather (his father) passed. We took him off life supports and stayed with him to the end. Dad let out a sob. I (now 19 or so) put my arm on his shoulder and my dad choked every other sob he had back down. Didn’t want to cry in front of me I guess. He lost it a bit more at the funeral home. But it took an OLD friend of my grandpaw that I never met and dad took a second to recognize. It nudged him over the edge. Probably added a few years to my dads life letting some of that shite out.

Now for me. If I am gonna cry. I cry. Try not to make a spectacle.
