One of our neighbors has two outdoor cats, an indoor and two rabbits indoors…then another neighbor has two outdoor cats. Well that’s great and all, but we feed birds on our back deck and the cats swarm like crazy.

You feed the cats so they won’t eat the birds, now you have cats by the front and back doors begging for food.

I could see having an outdoor cat if you lived on a farm and had a barn…but in a neighborhood an outdoor cat just seems like a burden you are forcing on everyone else.

My answer is 1…if it’s an indoor cat at some part of the day. If you simply leave a bowl of food out you don’t own cats…we all do.

You feed the cats by attracting the birds.

Every block needs a couple of outdoor cats. Having several next door is a nuisance.

Zero.

And I love cats. But outdoor cats usually tend to be a nuisance to other homes besides the owner's.

I wouldn't complain about 1 or 2. Just be glad you don't live next to the neighborhood cat lady that feeds them in the alley or something like that. Thankfully, I don't either, but I see the posts on FB looking for food, shelter, adoptions, donations for fixing, etc. There's one woman that I bet feeds 50+ cats, and has managed to procure shelters of styrofoam ice chests and plastic storage bins, she got some astroturf to help cover the dirt/mud, and now she's working on tarps to help keep the wind/weather out this winter.

I'm not in favor of killing cats just for population control, but I also have ZERO desire to live next door to an informal feline rescue.

I had my back door open a couple of weeks ago and one of the neighborhood cats waltzed in like she owned the place. Walked around the kitchen for a minute then casually walked out. It was bizarre.

I have a restaurant dumpster on the other side of my fence, and another one across the street. I love outdoor cats.

I don't like neighborhood outdoor cats. Shitting in kids' sandboxes, getting it to stuff, etc.

1. you get 1 outdoor cat. Really it should be if a cat shows up to your house starving and looking like shite and you decide to feed it and it sticks around.

if you go out and purchase/adopt a cat for the sole purpose of throwing it outside, with the exception of a barn/farm, you're a dick.
