No, not at all. It was an example. Replace two weeks with three or four. The premise remains.
For every week of vacation I would give up would need some sort of cash equivalent on top of whatever increase I was already being offered. The first attempt would be to negotiate more PTO, if not an option the next step would be to find a cash equivalent and I am just not sure it would even be worth it to me unless the equivalent was significant...like $25k per week

Currently 71. Managed 2 large group medical practices for 35 years. Retired 5 years ago.
Got an unbelievable offer to manage a MRI facility on a “part time” basis this past February. Great pay, great benefits with autonomy. Only go to the facility 2 days a week. Thoroughly enjoy it and will be doing it for a long time.

I did in January at 54. Same profession (sales) and same clientele (K-12 schools), just a different product.

I started a new job almost three years ago…over 50 and after being out of the work force almost 10 years. My husband started a new one earlier this year…over 55.
It has been good for both of us to stay sharp and shake things up.
I will stick with mine as long as it stays good—so maybe until retirement or I may bail within the year. No telling. Its great right now though.
He has 8 years until retirement and hopes this is the last one.

Started a new job with a new company and relocated at age 60. I am single so I looked at it as an adventure. I got to see and live in a different part of the country I probably would have never otherwise lived in. Pacific Northwest. It was temporary for a year but I had fun.

I’m 44 and I’m not sure if I could start another gig in corporate America at 50. If things got bad enough at my current gig I’d probably look for a smaller company to go work at to keep busy and make some money to keep my wife off my arse.
I was in a job that required a lot of nights and weekends, and it just got old as I've gotten older. I decided I probably couldn't do that the rest of my career, and if I was going to make a switch I better do it before my age becomes too much of a factor.
I took a paycut of about 15'ish%, but I'd do it all over again after 10 months so far.

Is it normal to have a panic attack in the bathroom at a new job because you’re overwhelmed with the change? Yeah, I did and I’m only 30.
You'll get older and more experienced and learn to do that on the drive home.

Raises hand.
Was 52 and left employer of 22 yrs. Got stock cash and left. Myself and the CEO had an impasse.
Current employer is far superior and I make much more.

50s is normal. 60s is where people are slowing down and down realize it.
