You're retarded.

I have a passport.

Why won’t they give you a real ID if you have a passport and it matches your current drivers license??? it seems like the stupidest thing ever.

B/c presenting them your gas bill is super important, so important that they give you this little star on your license.

If they did this all online when i renew, i'd submit my stupid arse gas bill or whatever electronic bill i have since none of them are paper statements anymore, and then i could give them my passport# and i should be able to renew online and get my stupid gold star, but since they want me to print out a piece of paper, which i sure as shite am not going to go to some store to print that out, and then go to the DMV, i'm not getting a real id. My passport will work just fine.

I have it. My wife does not.

In Alabama, it can only be gotten by going to the DMV, whereas non-Real ID renewals are done at the county probate office. So, there are fewer places you can get an Real ID.

Interestingly enough, both my wife and I recently got passports. Where did we go? The local county probate office.

Standard government silliness--I don't even try to make sense of it all.

I renewed my driver's license in NY about 9 years ago and there was no other choice than Real ID.

Think some states were just really disorganized in the process.

It’s like the Star of David. That went over well in the 1940’s

No one has even explained how Real ID does either one of those things.

I don’t. Actually nobody in my family except my husband have a real ID and it was only bc he needed to renew his license. We all have passports and don’t mind using that even when flying domestically.

I’m confused as to how people say minorities are too stupid to get an ID so we can’t have voter ID laws but no one is crying about them having to get real IDs.
I believe in voter ID laws.

But one pretty big difference is that voting is a right, while flying is not.

Also curious how many think this national database will be a net positive

Net positive. Libs either can’t afford, or manage to obtain any form of ID.

Try to purchase a gun at any sporting goods store without an ID.

Also, our vote is indeed a right… and voter ID protects that right, in that it prevents our being disenfranchised by having our vote negated by foreign nationals.

Had mine for a few years now. But I travel a lot for work. Have TSA precheck as well. PreCheck was more paperwork and fingerprints and background then real ID
