I have a solo pi and really like it. For the price they are now it’s a great option. I got mine when they first came out and it was like 400 ish but we added the cart and all the accessories. I think I saw them at Costco for 279. The newer ones have a gas control on the front which is super easy. I thought I was a purist with the wood burning but get a great flavor with the gas. Plus the temp control to slow down your cook is a great asset.
I used “backyard palate” on tik tok and Backyard palate dough for a SOLID dough recipe. The regular one not the sourdough. I mix my dough using a stand mixer and let cold ferment for a day then ball it. I let the dough balls cold ferment individually for at least another 4 days. Rouses sells little clear short takeout soup containers and they are perfect. I like the dough to rise to nearly touch the lids of the containers. Remove from fridge and let them come to room temp. Use a flour and semolina mix exactly as seen on this guys tik tok and the dough is very workable. I tried different things for over a year before coming to this method and it’s too good not to share.

Not that I have seen. My viewing experience with eaglets is probably limited to a few dozen over the last few years since I discovered the cams. But I have never seen one scream that much. It even does it when it flies.

I’m kind of embarrassed to say I watch all of the nests mentioned in this thread. BBV was the first one I watched but have caught on to KNF and a couple others. The NCTC nest with young pair Bella and Scout and their 3 eaglets has been a part of my routine. Sat night I went to check on that nest and it was gone. Apparently at about 10 pm local time a storm blew it out of the tree it was in for 22 years. The rangers immediately approached and found the 3 eaglets dead. The footage was pretty sad as you could see the mom and babies unsettled as the nest swayed around. Dad has been perching for a few days in sight and I believe mom has been seen so they are ok. Last year was the first year they hatched babies and dad got confused and killed them so the loss of the month old eaglets really sucks for this pair. Still glad for BBV and that funny eagle family and crazy E303… but daaaang nature… you’re scary.
re: Dress code for prom…
Posted by SuwMwf on 4/12/25 at 1:34 pm
Some of the catholic schools in the lafayette area adopted these guidelines. I have a sophomore in one of these such schools and the girls look much nicer. Prom isn’t as bad as homecoming when it comes to dresses so small and short. Comparing public school dance pics to Catholic schools dance pics is night and day. It’s only doing the bigger girls favors. The short dresses looked awful on most of them. It makes it really difficult when trying to dress shop with a 16 year old, but overall I think the guidelines are good. If the girls at our school had a dress that was close or maybe had a slit then we were able to take pics and send to somebody for approval. Almost always got approval.

second the trouble free pools rec. Everything I have learned in the last 3 years since putting in a pool is that I should have put in a salt water generator. I still have about 50 lbs of chlorine so I'm not switching right now, but I probably will in the future.
re: Rock for beds around the house
Posted by SuwMwf on 3/24/25 at 9:28 am
We use the grass and rock shop. Near the intersection of verot school road and highway 92. We have Colorado river rock all underneath our eaves against the house and as a border in some areas as well as the base underneath some shrubs. We made use of various sizes. 2-3” all the way to grapefruit size. They sell by bag or weight. Some of our larger projects took over a ton and was shoveled from a trailer. That was fun. They’re always courteous. I’d never buy from lowes or Home Depot.

Stfu. She wouldn’t give you a second glance. And you would never and I mean ever turn her down based on that and that alone.

re: Those who had surgery or procedures done

Skimmed a few pages and nobody has said versed. I’ve been through enough to have needed all the meds listed. Accident prone kid and silly circumstances have put me in all sorts of painful situations. I’ve received everything from dilaudid to liquid Demerol concoctions for a broken femur. I guess bc I was pediatric case they gave liquid? I’ve had morphine pumps and fentanyl injections for bowel obstruction or surgery recovery. The answer is versed.
re: In NYC, how to get started on subway
Posted by SuwMwf on 3/5/25 at 2:15 pm
I use the maps app on iPhone. The same one used for directions while driving. I just change the type of travel to the public transport. It looks like a little bus or subway. Enter exact addresses or business name or destination like Times Square will work. It walks you through step by step where to get on, which train and when to get off. It’s usually helpful to know if you are going up or down since the same letter or number trains can travel in the same platform. It has never led me wrong. Anytime I got lost it was my mistake. As far as access I have typically purchased a metro card for the duration of my trip and carried that card. Though using the iPhone like you would a boarding pass is efficient too.

At one point Trump put his right hand out and touched Z’s arm with a little bit of a push off.
re: Train tickets in Italy

The concept of a standard class is fine, but nearly every seat was full last time I traveled that route. We went in November last year around election time. So pretty off season. I don’t like being shoved shoulder to shoulder in a train or struggling with luggage.

Do you need to be captive to Delta? Under $800 before tax on United.
United does not really service all the way to Exuma. It would be silver airways into GGT. The route is LFT to IAH to FLL to GGT with the return a 21 hour travel day. THAT is inconvenient.
I can use the companion pass elsewhere, but it's a good value for this route and typically this route is slammed all summer on delta. It's surprising there isn't a schedule out thus the question for those who may understand things better than me. I am a loyal United card/status/mile holder too. It just not a good choice for this destination.

“Blue daze” morning glories are super easy. Mine get full sun all day and even drape over onto the driveway and the hot concrete doesn’t burn them. When the leaves get a little off color I throw some fertilizer on them. I’m in the process of cutting them down to the ground this weekend. It took until mid January for them to look cruddy.
Dianthas did pretty well this year. I wacked them back aggressively when they got lanky and they kept coming back and flowering all the way into late fall.
The bees love the lantanas and mine have been transplanted all over the yard and still thrive.

Thanks cuse! They’ve always been steep which is understandable for an out island. I’ll keep watching. I’d like to go ahead and secure the house, but didn’t plan to go with the masses on a Saturday. Small island like that gets chaotic and hard to get provisions. They had a sandals there that is sold/closed for renovation. I guess I was nervous that delta might be rethinking the route.
Delta/Airline gurus?
Posted by SuwMwf on 2/1/25 at 9:33 am
I am trying to plan our summer exuma trip. We normally do LFT or MSY to GGT through Atlanta. I am seeing nothing but Saturday departures on delta starting in June. And they are all pretty expensive. In the past GGT had a daily flight from ATL and then back. I am as loyal as I can be to delta/amex, especially when the alternative is AA. I’d also like to use my free companion pass for this case. I can’t understand why they would scale this back. Every mid week flight I’ve ever been on to or from GGT was completely full. I searched for press on a route scale back and asked the homeowners and nobody knows a thing. Any insights? Am I too early?
re: Say goodbye to Joe Biden
Posted by SuwMwf on 1/16/25 at 8:51 am
I was in Naples, Italy on election day and for a couple of days afterwards. The clips of Biden falling in various ways were played on the news back to back to back. He never appeared distinguished. Then they would show Trump, Elon and Dana White et al and talk about MAGA. Finishing up the reel with remarks about the environment and climate change. It was thrilling to wake up at 7 am local and see the results coming in back home. 90 - 95 percent of ppl that asked us where we were from brought Trump up and wanted to high five and cheer for him. It was awesome.
