Same goes for weed, but we can’t make that legal…
Correct, weed is illegal because of the Big Alcohol Lobby. They've lost A LOT of money from the 2018 Farm Bill and now are getting Delta variants of THC edibles (not the seltzers since they're owned by Big Alcohol) and smokables banned under the guise of "helping the children."

Another thing the government can collect a tax on.

It’s easily the worst drug that we have such easy access to. I know so many people who have died or almost died from drinking too much alcohol, and developing a problem.
Same could be said of high calorie foods and drinks. Many people enjoy both in moderation.

Alcohol lobbyist have deep pockets. It’s one of the reasons they got congress to ban online edibles, which was cutting into their profits.

Alcohol smells and any heavily drunk in places like bars have a bit of smoke and urine smell. Can be gag inducing.

Ehh I get your point, but alcohol and any drug is different than food. It’s a mind altering substance, so this is mostly about mind altering substances. Also, you can’t eat too many fried chicken sandwiches and die that night. But you can die from drinking too much alcohol in one night.

We are quickly moving towards a time where drinking is being viewed like smokers are today

Craft beer places have been tanking in my area if they haven't been offering "lighter calorie" options.

Taxes for the Government
Revenue for Corporations
Something like 10% of the population consumes like 90% of the booze. Government knows this, as does Big Business, but would be loathe to give up that revenue stream to actually help the actual citizens.

Same thing why smoking still hangs around. Younger generations have been moving away from alcohol. Just like what happened with smoking.
Both will still be around but just for the hardcore users

Because this is America.
They tried making it illegal once. That didn’t work out too well.

So racism keeps weed illegal?

Are you suggesting it should made illegal?
This country tried that already. It did not go well

Prohibition actually worked much better than you may think if the goal is reducing alcohol consumption. It took decades for alcohol consumption rates in this country to reach the same levels that they had been at prior to prohibition.

Sure, if you drink it like you did. You can ruin your life with too much of anything that has the ability to impair your judgment. If you don't have enough self control it is best to avoid it altogether. Some people are capable of using a substance without having any impact on their lives.
