Depends on the type of hard times.
If it is the type that I have some control over the outcome, I throw myself into determining the best course of action to limit the impact or duration of the hard times.
If it is the type I do not have control of, I have the mental tools in my toolbox to deal with them in a constructive way and set them aside. Grief, fear, regret, shame, et al are things to be dealt with in a healthy manner and then allowed to trail off. Some present lessons for the future, some are just expected speed bumps in life.

I don’t discuss hard truths with somebody as dumb as UGA Alum.

Drinking is the only acceptable answer.

Prayer, prayer and more prayer!!
Let me know if you want to talk about Prostate cancer. I went through it a few years back and I am now cancer free.

Yes, yes, yes.
Low dosage lexapro helps quiet the numerous voices telling you you suck (even despite notable personal success).

The main thing I pray about is that I pray that UGA Alum will stop making so many awful threads on Tigerdroppings.

Honestly? Whatever works to get me through the moment. Whatever keeps me here today, works. Maybe I can find some better methods in the future but in the thick of it? Whatever keeps you going

Don't be a little bitch.
Thats the answer. Even if you have to walk on coals from one issue to the next, just keep moving forward.

Drinking is about the worst idea during hard times, especially if you are depressed. Going on a weekend bender because something bad happened (loss of loved one, job loss, etc.), no problem. But sustained drinking while prolonged bad times exist is a really bad idea.

For us, it’s helped to occupy the mind with our hobbies. Keep the household going, keep a routine. Make it to work but get a little more rest than normal. Exercise seems to help a little bit. Wife and I try to be more patient with each other, lean on each other. Thank God we get along. We try not to retreat from life, try to stay social. Sometimes you just have to go through the hard times, no way to get out of them except live through them.
It changes you though.

Alone time to think about all the good things life has given me over the years. Reflecting often leads to the realization that sometimes, “hard times” produced good things.
