A lot of them drink Diet Coke with their McDonald’s and super sized fried.

I could definitely lose some weight so in June, I decided to cut out all Dr. Pepper/ sweet tea... cut it out cold turkey and have been clean since then
If I can do it, anyone can.

McDonalds charges $1 for a large soda and $2 for a McDouble.
They charge like $1.79 for a bottle of water, and $4 for a salad.
As long as crap food is cheaper and easier to consume than healthy food, we will have this problem, especially in the poorer communities.

While I don't totally disagree with his post, I think soft drinks are a contributing factor to obesity, though not a major factor. Severely obese people have a lot more going on than just having a soda pop problem. But yea, I'm curious if OP drinks soda pop. If he does, and hes fat, hes a hypocrite. If he does and he's thin, then he's wrong in his theory. If he doesn't drink them and is thin, then he should write a book on his new diet plan.

A cup of water is free...
And a m Donald's salad can be worse for you than a big Mac once you drown it in dressing.

Cokes are 150 calories a pop. There's a significant portion of the population that's downing 3+ a day. That's nearly a pound a week in caloric intake so I highly disagree.

Shame them on the O-T while pretending that you're in shape and your wife doesn't have a fat arse.

Do not drink any soda. Only drink water, black coffee, wine, vodka

That's exactly how it works. Costs lower industry wide. 1 company cuts prices 2% causing customer base to rise and makes more profit. Customers leave higher priced alternative resulting in more expensive company cutting price to increase market share back.
Happens all the time

So, are you saying that if an obese person who drinks 3+ a day, but changes nothing else, they'll get thin?

stop being a nanny state and dictating what people can and cant do, but allow insurance/health care to charge high risk (IE fat people) higher rates and higher co-pays ect....
Over the long run fat people cost insurance companies less than average/skinny people.
You want to talk about people melting... start charging them more for being “healthy.”

Clearly this is a major cause of obesity in the United States and honestly the only people I see drinking soft drinks are severely overweight. I don’t see why people would chose sugar water with no health benefits over actual water. I would compare it to smoking cigarettes. Thoughts?
Hey, GTF out of my business. And don't drink, it may harm your precious liver!!

This is your best shot, in my opinion.

I love when this site full of so called conservatives openly advocate raising taxes for things they don't like.

It certainly will help. Of course Sodas aren't the only factor. Stop being obtuse and insinuating that people think they are.
Sitting back on shitty drinks is the easiest way to get people towards a healthier lifestyle.

They'll absolutely get thinner or stop gaining as fast. If the above scenario is the case and that person does nothing but cuts soda they are essentially getting the same amount of calories in 8 days as they were in 7. That's a 12% difference, fairly substantial no?
