How do we get fat people to stop drinking soda?

Clearly this is a major cause of obesity in the United States and honestly the only people I see drinking soft drinks are severely overweight. I don’t see why people would chose sugar water with no health benefits over actual water. I would compare it to smoking cigarettes. Thoughts?
Just to clarify because it came up: no, I fo not drink any soda. Strictly water and black coffee. Wine and vodka when I drink

Make companies stop producing it... or tax it to the point fat people can't afford it.

That's just not true.
Obviously people chose it over water because they like the taste.
There is nothing you can do stop people from drinking soda. Best to just go on with your life and not let it bother you.

This is a pretty damn good comparison. Especially since I've done both. Both are 50% habit, and 50% chemical addiction.
I continue to struggle with the soda part.

Sew their mouths shut.

Sugar is more addictive than nicotine. I really don't care if someone wants to blow up over 300lbs drinking sodas and eating like shite, I just don't want to pay for their healthcare.

Iweigh about 170 and drink Dr Pepper every day. It's not the soda, it's the laziness that makes people fat.

stop being a nanny state and dictating what people can and cant do, but allow insurance/health care to charge high risk (IE fat people) higher rates and higher co-pays ect....
why should i as a healthy adult have to supplement the bad habits of someone who is not.....

Nicely explain to them the detrimental effects on their health and well being. Discuss how to prevent obesity and beeetus. Offer free service including water deliver and soda withdrawal assistance. Shoot them once behind the ear?

Tell them drinking coke is healthy for you, they'll quickly turn their fat ignorant asses to something with more sugar and fat.

Keep increasing the price in restaurants! I like a good Dr Pepper every couple days, but I’m not paying $3 for one. Usually drink water these days

Stupid people have done stupid shite since the beginning of time.
When you figure out how to change that, let me know. Genocide is the only viable option, but probably not realistic.

Clearly.... The major cause of obesity in the US is laziness. Some people can eat whatever they want and work out and stay in shape. Soda is no worse than drinking juice, OJ, Sweet Tea etc.
