This thread is exhibit 546 as to why we need to invest more in public education…

How did 3 parachutes stop the tin can from going 20k mph
Because it wasn’t going 20k mph.
Not even remotely remotely remotely close to that.

Well at some point it was probably something like that.
What our *ahem* "skeptic" is missing are things like physics, air density, radical concepts like terminal velocity, etc.
To pretend that we can't do stuff like that - things that folks can literally watch with their own eyes - is kind of batshit crazy. I understand how they can say, "Muh fake Moon landing!" I don't agree with such nonsense. But, to deny we can send folks to LEO and bring them back safely, most moon hoaxers concede manned space flight in LEO.
This one seems dumber than most, though. Not understanding even what is claimed by NASA. Contradicting himself. Denying basic physics. Just extra dumb.
Almost "not worth debating" dumb.

With or without internet access, people still need to actually think.
The Internet promotes all kinds of invalid information.

It's actually proof that it works as intended.

I looked it up #OfcourseIdid
Apollo 10 was just under 25k mph, which set the record for a manned vehicle. Subsequent returning missions had similar speeds, but 10 is recognized as the fastest. Achieved at about about the 75 mile altitude mark.
Obviously, all that velocity/kinetic energy gets converted to heat/decelerative force. The drogues come out at about 250 to 300mph (approximately 24k feet) and the mains deploy at about 125 to 150mph (approximately 10k feet). Target velocity at splashdown is 22mph.

You'd think someone in the production studio would have asked "is aluminum foil gonna fool anybody"....and someone said "we will use silver and that gold colored shite they wrap baked potatoes up in at the Bonanza....no one will question it".....

Exactly. This moon landing denial is a real time idiot detector.
There is one word for moon landing deniers. Tang. They won't deny it existed so they have to answer how we brought it back from the moon....BOOM! Conversion thanks to a damned tasty orange drink.....

Public education is the problem. I personally know elementary teachers in the public system that have zero knowledge of things like continental drift and plate tectonics. One I knew could not pronounce 'Potomac' correctly.
Also one that thought the Pilgrims were the first Europeans to settle in North America and had no clue who the Puritans were/are.
If I had my wish I would outlaw all public schools and only have private/religious schools.
And I taught in a inner city school here in BR for 22 years. I saw some shite you would not believe.

Why the hell didn't they build that satellite thing in the damned parking lot???? Its going to ruin the view of the field and be in the way of field goals and kick offs. Can't even build a football stadium without a big arse satellite thing in the middle of the field and we going to the moon. Man I can remember when we used to build things in this country.....

DoD does it all the time.
The LCS, the Constellation class, the Zumwalts, the Booker etc etc. tens of billions of dollars, sometimes even making it to production and then just saying “nah nvm”
