Poor countries are full of wealthy people. There's just huge gaps between the wealthier ones and most of the people there.

I recall being taught in middle school social studies that a distinguishing factor of "Third World" countries is that only a small percentage possesses most of the wealth..

Think of those countries like Louisiana . It's a poor state but has plenty of upper middle class people able to afford many luxuries.

Uruguay produces about 99% of its electricity from renewables. Meanwhile in America everyone says we can't afford renewables.

This is an active thing? Seems like all that shite happened 100’s of years ago and is no longer prevalent.

Same way they get cheap pharmaceuticals, off the backs of the American taxpayers. Americans subsidize dictatorships with either USAID-NGO grants or direct cash drops from the federal government.

You understand that geography plays a major role in renewable energy, right?

Solar panels are not going to work well in areas with low amounts of solar irradiation or small tracts of land...

Wind turbines arent going to work well in areas with low wind speeds or be erected in areas with high population densities...

Hydro-energy isnt going to work where there is no powerful flowing rivers...

Do I need to go on?

Where the land/geography can accommodate renewable energy, it is used in the US. Hence why Texas is the largest producer of wind energy in the country....because they have land.

Hence why California produces a lot of solar energy...because they have sun and land.

Uruguay's largest power source is hydropower because it has 4 rivers that make that setup possible....
Where the US can use renewable energy...it does.

With that being said, Uruguay is a literal nobody on the world stage.

That little detail is the difference. Even our poor people are fat.

Several different groups of fans from Norway have all been saying the same thing: "we've been saving for this trip for years." And it's not just the price of tickets, massive numbers are traveling across the country, following their teams....from Boston down to Mexico. to Canada, L.A., stopping over at the Grand Canyon.

Exactly. Soccer is a religion to a lot of countries. They save for 4 years to be ready for the next one

Do you have any idea how many families in those “poor countries” send their kids to college in the US? And they don’t get student loans to go - they pay in cash.

There are rich people all over the world

If you only knew what politicians did with our tax dollars

Imagine if they kept that $ local to help those really in need
