I live by the old Hookah on S Sherwood. Well.........about 3 miles away.

But the loud music was so bad that I could hear the words on their speakers............which were coming from the cars parked on the side/middle of the road.

One Sunday night was so bad loud that I thought a Metallica show had started. I wish it was that type of music.

So glad that thing got shut down finally...............it was horrible.

Was this a contributing factor in the shooting last year after the game?

That was a different smoke shop on Highland. There's half a dozen of them in the northgates area, it feels like.

One opened up near me on Canal and S. Bernadotte St. in N.O. They served Middle Eastern food and featured hookahs for the asking.

The wife and I would frequent Mona's on Banks St. in Mid-City and enjoyed their food but decided to give the new place a try.

When we arrived there were few customers but before we left the place was filling up and the "culcha" was real and getting rowdy. Not our cup of tea and that was our one and only visit.

We stick to Mona's.

It wasn't the Ra Shop, it was the former bank and ATM across the street from The Varsity / The Revelry.

There are/were those two, the former copy shop on W State, 420 Smoke at Aster (the former Little Caesars, a bank before that), the former Charlie's on W Chimes (several failed businesses before that), and The Lotus on W Chimes mentioned in the OP article. One or two of those six are closed or temporarily closed, and there may have been a seventh that is also closed.

Got a tattoo at the place down the parking lot from that one a couple years back. Parking lot was covered in crawfish garbage & empty alcohol bottles all from the hookah lounge overnight. trash.
