re: Here's the list of Louisiana businesses that will receive at least $150,000 in PPP loans

I told my partner we would have been eligible for loan forgiveness if we sucked as much money as we could out of the business every chance we got, but that's just not how we operate
quote:This part is pretty easy. You submit your payroll and rent information together with your application for forgiveness.
So I don't know how we could prove that we used the loan for payroll and rent.
You are doing yourself disservice. The PPP program has been extended and there is still money left. You would be wise to talk with your banker and accountant and apply.

The amount of churches on that list is ridiculous.
Tax them.
Tax them.

Have these already been distributed?
The loans?
Yes, we have already turned in our paperwork for forgiveness
We did straight payroll, no rent or utilities money

I disagree.
As someone who paid for a funeral during the crisis, I know the charges were the same. Additionally, we were required to pay for embalming because the morgues were full and could not take bodies, so the funeral home was required to embalm due to time on-premises.
The charges for funerals and wakes build in the use of the facility already. And with wakes and services limited, the funeral home did not have to expend these costs.
So - sounds like the funeral homes came out way ahead - at least from my perspective.

Of course some businesses came out smelling like roses but the program needed to be quick and accessible without huge amounts of red tape.. I’m gonna wait to see the final reports before I even consider bitching about certain industries gaining access... I personally used 65% of my loan on full time wages and that excludes my wife and I.. without the loan, we probably would’ve furloughed the full time employees. As for the lawyers, I’m sure many came out ahead but remember that the courts were closed, no filings could take place and billing and settlements plummeted.. we could go in circles about that but law firms don’t just comprise high paid lawyers.. you have administrative workers, paralegals and other low level office workers on staff.

As said, most private schools continued education through distance learning and not on a voluntary basis like public schools did. Teachers still had to be paid. Where they got the hit wasn’t on paying teachers, it was on some parents saying “frick it”, and they quit paying tuition because the schools wouldn’t stay open. Private schools actually made the choice to close.
You can't choose to stop paying tuition at most private schools. That isn't an option. Most require you to pay up front, and if you don't, it's a loan through a bank, so you're dealing with the bank, and the school already had their money.
I'd like to know what they needed the money for, b/c every private school looks like they got some. Although i see that St. George is missing from the list, but every other catholic school in BR is on there.

It’s your money. You paid the taxes. The government is giving it back to you. Who cares? This isn’t for the study of inter developmental racism effects on using the term “hey” in society. It’s for business to keep paying employees.

Feds can pay whistleblowers 10% fee to turn in the fraudsters.
Find a plaintiff firm that did not take PPP, and that will be the firm that finds whistleblowers in law firms and other businesses that did take the money. Their client whistleblowers get a cut of any recovery, and the attorneys will get a cut of that.
They'll be eating their own before long - commercials are probably being produced as we speak.

Exactly. Even if you didn't need it you should have taken it. Better that it goes in the peoples pocket then wasted in the government.

Business owners are going to shite their pants when they find out they won’t get debt forgiveness, much like the “work for nonprofit for ten years and student loans forgiven” program, with hardly anyone getting approved.

Of course it was closed down, during their busiest months of the year. Not sure why anyone would be upset about blue bayou taking the loan

This is where Some of you don’t understand the requirements... the loan was based on any uncertainty within your business. It was blanket coverage for all businesses and the only fraud that could be uncovered will be reporting fraudulent payroll figures used for loan forgiveness.
