Had no idea it was set up all retarded like that.

IT's not. Biggest problem is catching a cab/Uber once you land.

Will we ever see a day when there is a mass transit option for getting to the CBD and FQ?

Yeah when mass transit is the only legal form of ground transportation that exists in America. New Orleans will add that option 5 years after the hypothetical bill goes into law.

It's a hell of a lot nicer and easier to get into and through security than the old MSY, so GFY

This. I flew out last week to an event and have flown in and out of the old MSY on many occasions. I like the new MSY.

My only gripe is that it looks like they used the baggage carousels from the old MSY which weren't working right when I flew back in early Friday morning at about 1 AM. Also, the same bullshite where the one screen to tell you where your baggage is coming out of is not at all accurate compared to what is displayed at the carousel itself. At least some things never change.

Doubt it. Locals will not support.

We ate at Mondo this last weekend.....it was airport food. Pretty disappointed in that. I’d never been to the real restaurant so maybe it’s not any good either but everything we ordered was pretty terrible to the point where we didn’t want to eat it.

No, it didn’t. But the shops and restaurants being the first thing you see when when you walk in tells me a bunch of women designed this place.

Do you even airport, bro?

Flew out MG weekend from MSY.

Traffic in and out is a cluster. Pickup lines were a traffic jam and leaving the airport all traffic is bottle necked down to 2 lanes.

The interior design at the terminal is uninspiring and bland. If it weren’t for the big cypress tree mural on the first floor the interior could be from any city.

Sending everybody to the ground floor from long term parking only to create a giant pedestrian clusterfrick at the first floor entry doesn’t make sense.

The concourses were nicer and had an open feel with eateries and shops located in the center.

Unless they got a new airport in the last 8ish years, that was easily the second worst airport I have been to. Fly out of Sanford instead of MCO once, and will never make that mistake again.

I flew out on Mardi Gras Day at 2pm and there were zero lines except for Shake Shack.

I know you're a hater but the new MSY reminds me of Love Field which is my favorite airport by far.

This doesn’t apply to the out of towner coming for a visit, but if you’re a local and need to drop off or pick up someone, here’s a hint...pull into short term parking lot, go to level 4, that’s where the bridge walkway is to terminal...you also get 30 minutes of free parking, so time it so that you get there when your passengers plane arrives and have them walk past the ticketing counters into the short term garage. DO NOT go into that cell phone lot! If it’s too crowded at pickup, they will not let cars out of the lot

Should have happened in the 80's/ 90's but the cab licenses were too valuable for those in charge of such things.

Imagine how much less pressure on I-10 through Metairie for some direct rail or if Earhardt Expressway in the very least was a direct toll road to and from CBD/ airport? And I'm not a big fan of toll roads but this is one that makes sense.

Yeah, every airport I’ve been to, the first thing you see walking in is your airlines check in station. Walk around the corner and there’s TSA. Then go up/down a flight of stairs to your gate.

Yep,this is pretty normal for almost every airport I've been to.

The rental cat thing is FUBAR everywhere these days. Its a freakin hike to get to the car rentals these days and many Airports have moved them far away from their original locations.

Didn't the FAA or DHS require airports to move em further away?

ATL runs like a Swiss watch compared to MSY. Never rented a car from there though. The park n ride is a 5 minute ride which isn’t bad.

Hartsfield is definitely top 3 in terms of efficiency.

Whoever designed the original layout did a great job

You’d think check-in would be on the first floor. Nope. Third. Restaurants and shops are on the first.

Next, you’d think TSA is on the same floor as check-in. Nope, go back to the 2nd floor.

If you are in an aiport of any size, baggage claim is on first floor and check-in / gates is on a higher floor. You know because of the jetway attaching to the plane...

Also, there are hardly any "restuarants and shops" on the first floor. They are almost exclusively on the second floor.

TSA is on same floor as the gates, which makes sense.

The only "weird" thing about the airport is check-in on level 3, but a third level is becoming common in newly built terminals as a way to save space.

If you park in the short-term garage, or are dropped off, you arrive on the same level as check-in. If you park in long-term, then yes you enter on the first floor and go up to three. Supposedly, a walkway from the long term parking to the third floor of the terminal is being planned.
