The problem has always been, how do you connect earhart to the interstate on one side, and to the access road / airport on the other.
My solution has always been this: on the west side (from dickory to the airport), create something like the Westpark tollway in Houston... a 4 lane toll road that runs roughly right up against Airline. It would be a tight fit, though.
On the east side, at Causeway, build a connector that connects you to Airline, and then again, run it like the Westpark Tollway. this would be much easier because there is a lot more room out here, you don't need 3-4 lanes each way of Airline. Then tie it into I-10.

Ha, I saw a sign at a local restaurant that said "our shrimp are bought locally". To me, that means that they could buy imported shrimp at the local wal-mart.

I don't get the gripes about the layout. To me, it's sort of perfect having everything literally on top of each other and simply a short escalator ride away from one area to the next.
All the stark whiteness seems a bit shortsighted and 'of the moment' to me. Shows every little scuff and mar, which are already becoming apparent throughout the place.

I have flown maybe a dozen times out of the new airport. These things are true:
1) it is a food court with airplane gates
2) the traffic can be horrible on the airport ground. I have never had trouble on Loyola and see no reason for the proposed flyover. If the time of the day is right the traffic is no problem----tip--if you are picking up passengers tell them to go to the short term parking garage. You can sit in there for 30 minutes for no charge and you don't have to mess with the cell phone lot or drive around. The cell phone lot is a major screw up
3) there is really no advantage to the frequent flyer over the old terminal. Incoming guest seeking rental cars are more inconvenienced now than before. It is true that other airports do the same shuttle service but MSY was better before than now with no shuttle required to get to the rental cars. (What happened to conserving energy??) Overall the new terminal is ok and provides services to the traveler on par with the old terminal and we spent a lot of money for it. If having more places to spend money on food is important to you then you should like the new terminal.
4) the toilet seat covers are cool
5) Users and to some degree taxpayers are paying for it and there were much more needed uses of the money. Upgrading the old terminal would have been a better plan.
Another tip--if you are parking offsite or somebody is bringing you to the airport go in at the first door on level 1 instead of on the departure level if you are not checking a bag. Along the same lines---if you have to be dropped off at the departure level simply go in the Alaska airlines door regardless of which airline you are using if you are not going to check a bag. The escalator down to the TSA line is right there. There is no reason, for example, to go all the way to the SWA door and then walk the length of the building back to the escalator unless you need to check a bag or something.

It's sad the way government operates that we can't now pivot away from the flyover (which one can see is clearly NOT needed and certainly not to justify the price tag), and divert the funds to simply help tweak some of these other ground transportation issues, which will still exist WITH the useless flyover built.

Didnt bother me. I have zero experience on parking/rentals because I've been picked up/dropped off.
The whiteness will certainly make it harder to look clean over the years.
Not sure if it's cheap. I just had that inkling that it seems cheap looking for the tab.
One thing I noticed. Why not bring that cover over all the way to protect people from the rain?
Not a problem when I was there but we'll see once the rain starts. That big rain y'all get won't be fun.
Connected in LAX for the first time ever 3 weeks ago and I hate that damn place.

Either way, coming or going, you only need 2 of the 3. If drop off was on 1 and pick up was on 3 with all else equal I would agree it was inconvenient but that's not the case.

Typically after security. If that were the case, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.
Again, in ATL, walk in from the drop off... BOOM! Check-in counter. Next, round the corner to security.
After that, stop, take a leak if I need. Go down the escalator to the train and head to my concourse. Get off the train and up the escalator. Find my gate and wait.

I flew out of MSY last wed and back in last night from Salt Lake. I had zero problems and thought it was great how they incorporated the local restaurants and bars into the airport restaurants. I parked at US park so didn't deal with the Uber/Lyft line but they seemed to be moving smoothly. My bags were already moving on the baggage claim belt by the time I made it down. I don't doubt that a few people have had isolated issues with the airport but as a whole it's nice, clean, and great to fly in and out of. Some people just look for shite to complain about

There are things to conceivably gripe about over this new airport, I just don't see this layout deal as one. I find it really well conceptualized and that it does a good job of dispersing areas of congestion, but still keeping them in close proximity.

PHX is extending the light rail right now to go from the rental car center to the terminals. It's definitely needed and by far the worst part of any otherwise really good airport.
