I think this is the first thread about MSY in a while.

Most of the naysayers just knew it would fail during Mardi Gras. Only person I know that flew in and out said it went real smooth.

I totally agree - and I do fly alot (One Milliuon Miles + just with United)

I now fly into Baton Rouge because I need to rent a car! I was very disappointed with the New MSY -- must have been designed by the Permit Board --- New Orleans has been getting worse the last 5 + years - not better and the failed design of the new MSY pretty much puts a stamp on its lack of consumer focus.

That's quite the airport.

There were parts where I thought I was at Islands of Adventure

The time you spend getting to the rental counter is probably offset by your guaranteed connection flying out BTR.

Should've went during Christmas rush time, checking your luggage at the airline counter and then your luggage - yourself - to a centralized crowded dump-off area was kinda strange.

I have only been to the new airport once to drop off a passenger. Was not paying complete attention but do not recall the drop off area being covered or any protection from the weather.
