I've posted this pic before but this is the house in Palo Alto we lived in when I was a kid when it was just an average town. My dad payed the rent on it working at a lumberyard. 1000 sq feet, busy train tracks running directly behind it and it still sold for $3MM a couple years ago.

If I had Silicon Valley money I might pull the trigger on it. Perfect for a nice little double wide with a bug zapper and confederate flag on the front porch

The tree is the best part of the lot. Seriously.
I'd try to save it

Most don't live off campus. Most live on campus or the university helps finds and subsidize housing for them.

I wonder if I will have to knock that wall down in order to pull my double-wide in there?

That's the first thing that came to my mind as well. The city will fine the construction crew out the arse for every limb broken on that thing. Also, if it dies after construction, they'll likely get a massive fine as well

Chances are very good that during construction, the tree on the left hand side will die and the state will sue you.

If that doesn't happen, bottom line is, you'll spend a bunch of money and you'll still be living in California.

Do you also think every attractive girl is a count to make you feel better that you can’t sleep with them?

They dont. Almost all live on campus.

Where everything is provided to you.

I’d be willing to bet if you bought that lot, they wouldn’t let you cut down that tree...and if you couldn’t, you couldn’t even build a house on that.

It's just relative to where you live and work. My daughter is in a condo priced over twice that relative price per sq. ($4.3 million). Sounds outrageous, almost foolish, but it's actually just about the same proportions as what we pay to live in Baton Rouge relative to what we earn here.

My butler is about to retire and has been looking for a quaint lot to build a home. This is perfect! I’ll show it to him

As opposed to living in any of the southern states that were ranked at the bottom of the national list posted here the other day?

They're about as far from miserable as one can get. It's a really nice area, and Stanford is legit.

Surprised there isn’t a “housing hack” where people enroll at Stanford or San Diego state, just to take advantage of the on campus housing.
