I still can't get myself to watch that movie. Horrifying

Man, it's such a great film. You should really take the time to watch it. The hog scene gets a lot of attention, for obvious reasons, but it fits in very well with the rest of the movie.

It’s a good flick. The novel it’s based on (Deliverance) is a good piece of writing itself. The author, James Dickey, is an interesting study himself. Good writer and a decent poet. Studied a bunch of his work back in grad school.

“Sheep Child” and “Cherrylog Road” are surprisingly complex poems despite their coarse subjects.

The story I heard was that Burt Reynolds saw him at a rodeo once which was the inspiration to cast him in the movie.

Iconic. A lot of people don’t realize this but in Alabama his fecal matter was used as currency. At Brian Dennehy stadium you could get dipping dots with it.

RIP.

In a topic totally unrelated to Alabama, JeaLSU’s inferiority complex about football is on display. It is unbelievable

Went rafting the Chattooga this past year. Beautiful area and wicked rapids.
Highly recommend.

Sad to hear including his pets.

Pet squirrels were very common at one time. Benjamin Franklin and others in his time were known to keep them.

A lady in Texas made the news when one of her “yard squirrels” got attached to her for some reason, she wasn’t feeding it, and would jump up and tag along on her shoulder.

Deliverance is a classic. RIP to all. I’ve been to the Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum in Maggie Valley. Lot of cool stuff in there. Love western Carolina.
