My family that lives in south central and Lamar are stranded. All the bridges washed out. Many deaths in that 107 / 81 south area from my EMS buddy.
Small houses and trailers along the river just washing away with families still inside

I have family all over Greene County. From Paint Creek Area to Mosheim. I have a cousin I am trying to reach now that is a first responder. Heard one of the bridges(Kinser) on 107 collapsed earlier.

Haven't seen one power truck vehicle at all, but I do live out in the country.

This is going to be a common theme for a while. The first thing they’ll do is assess the transmission system and given the damage, that could take days. It used to take week(s) but drones have cut that time significantly. While transmission crews are repairing, the distribution system assessment begins. They’ll start at the substations and work their way out from there like following the branches of a tree. Then the restoration begins as you’ll have tree crews going from location to location clearing trees and marking it ready for the line crews to do anything from resetting poles to popping xformer fuses back in.

Given my experience, I’m thinking the ETR for 95% of the people who can take power is going to be somewhere around 3 weeks.

Deuce McWin, to answer your question, I believe the “Q-Thread” is and likely will be the longest thread ever & it was taken down.

but, some of the things said on there have been coming true, might have to BRING THE Q-THREAD BACK,

it was a fun one too!

My sister says in Hendersonville the issue they are having are the crews cannot do anything until the water is gone and now there are issues of sinkholes as well on the roads. Asheville and the other mountain towns are just not accessible for the power companies right now. My guess it may be a week or longer in some areas just to assess the damage. Especially with cell service out as well. Verizon reporting major damage to their equipment in Asheville and the area.

I lived in downtown Asheville when Francis and Ivan come through in 04 around 10 days a part. It was over a week to get power and 3 weeks to get water and everything else going. Still needed to boil or buy water the next month.

I'm sure efforts for us are also inhibited by continuing rain. While not as windy here today, rain is expected for 2 solid days still.

That’s another complication I was thinking about. It’s quite literally the worst place to have damage of this scale. Hell, there are still area in the mountains they use horses to pull the poles up the mountain.

Was walking around at night and met 2 guys stranded who found a lady willing to sell them gas at $50 a gallon. They bought 5 gallons. I bought a gallon off this lady for $50 which was enough to get me to a gas station that was open in North Augusta.

Did you buy gas off of Rennis Rinke's cousin?

TDOT just declared all roads in Upper East Tn (basically Knox Co and up) should be considered dangerous and are discouraging travel. They didn’t go as far as NDOT but honestly getting around right now is a like navigating a labyrinth and many of us are still under wind and flash flood warnings.

Lived in Asheville from 2012-2017. It leans liberal but the people tend to help each other out in tough times. One of the few places in the country where both Libs and conservatives seem to live and let live.

Yes my in-laws were the last vehicle across. Now they’re stuck on the wrong side but we think the Jackson bridge is still up. Can’t cross it yet but they may start letting people walk across once inspected

You should have just robbed her because that's basically what she did to you.

West of Columbia and still without power. We only lost one tree but the top of our neighborhood ona hill looks like it got hit hard….trees were down on every road but the SC baw crews were out clearing first thing. Everything passable and power popping up around us since yesterday.

Been cycling propane generator since yesterday morning to preserve food and keep things liveable. Hoping to get power back today.

Cell towers were out all day yesterday. Weird having no connection with outside world…just now reading about all of the damage up north.

Models fricked us as storm didn’t turn north. Eastern GA and Western SC got slammed.

ETA: just seeing now the Devi station in Western NC. Unbelievable.
