My man and his family lived with me from Jan 1 to July 1(some wild shite happened restoring their house that kept them from moving back in until a few months ago).

Since the day Idalia hit, they lived in their house from July 1st to yesterday. Just a few months.

And here goes again. They’ve flooded 3 times in the last 2 years. Idalia, again in the middle of fixing the home, and last night.

My immediate neighbor and her husband moved in next door. Last year the husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness and passed a couple months later. All of it out of nowhere. I’ve never seen someone as defeated as this woman.

She moved out near the beach and her home is destroyed now.

Spirits are low around town.

Calm down, Nancy. Catastrophic weather events have been happening forever and will continue to happen. It's life. People will rebuild (or not rebuild) and everything will go on. I grew up near all of the areas in St. Pete that were flooded. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner and I'm not sure why people are shocked it happens

French Broad River at Asheville now above Flood of Record...
Current reading...23.35'
Record reading...23.1'

23.1 - Record Flood Stage. This is the highest stage observed for the French Broad River at Asheville since measurements began in October 1895. Devastating flooding of adjacent areas of the French Broad River Valley is likely.

With Waterville and Walter’s both breaking

Where is the Waterville Dam and what is it impounding?

I think the power plant having piped in water has confused me in which is which?

That’s what I thought was going to happen. They’d luck out by their own stupidity on the offshore side of the circulation.

I was confused on this as well, when searching it seemed as if Waterville and Walter's was the same dam and not two different ones.

It's pretty tough to get on a bus when you arent able bodied and dont have anyone to help you

And what are these buses you speak of? RTA shut their buses down and dont bring up the fricking school buses.....the school buses were not an option

Sounding like it's going to be a while before power is restored in eastern Georgia. Georgia Power doesn't even have essential services up and running in Augusta yet.

What dam failed? The Walter Dam, the Waterville Dam, or the Lake Lure Dam?

The Lake Lure dam and the Waterville dams failed. The Walters dam has not failed.

ETA: But some people are saying that the Waterville dam and the Walters dam are the same. So....I'm not sure.

I’m legit sick to my stomach with this. Where the hell do you even start to begin dealing with this?

You gotta live somewhere.

You gotta work somewhere.

Kids have to go to school somewhere.

You gotta get food somewhere.

I want to throw up for these people.

that's why you save money, don't live beyond your means and have insurance.
