With Waterville and Walter’s both breaking Newport is gonna get swallowed. Walter’s will hit Hamblen too and they’re surrounded by lakes and sink holes.

Near where the dam failed in Newport

and if you think federal govt is coming help in TN, you can forget it
Fema had money enough for this disaster, while not realizing what was going to happen north of FL. Congress turned down any additional funding for fema this morning. Now, passing out cash will turn into a dick measuring contest, with the acting president saying that POC's should get all of the money.

A map of TN road closures
LINK
and it has the statement from NC DoT that all roads in western North Carolina should be considered closed.
My friends over there live on hill tops so they are safe from flooding, but they also can't go anywhere.

I’m legit sick to my stomach with this. Where the hell do you even start to begin dealing with this?
You gotta live somewhere.
You gotta work somewhere.
Kids have to go to school somewhere.
You gotta get food somewhere.
I want to throw up for these people.

Hit up some of the newly minted illegals. 15,000 loaded onto EBT cards and $25,000 put into their account to buy a house.

Not yet but the water from Walter’s dam and the Pigeon River is going to hir southern Hamblen county. At the rate the dams are failing and given the lakes I wouldn’t rule anything out. TN’s problems are just getting started.

How did so many people die already and the storm isnt even over.
I'd imagine the death count is going to be much higher after it's all said and done

Western NC is tourist reliant as well and I imagine many leaf peeping fall foliage trips are now going to be cancelled.
If the winds were as strong as reported, there may not be much foliage left to change for the fall.

it happened in New Orleans
kids scattered everywhere
Baton Rouge doubled overnight
you run schools on one campus twice
morning schedule and afternoon schedule
it's a huge inconvenience but once the initial shock is over people become pretty resilient

One got hit with a road sign on the car and two died in their trailer — think it got tossed by wind.
Hadn’t heard of the others.

Im well aware, but mostly in New Orleans it was people that couldn't afford to evacuate, plus no one expected the levees to break

Mudslide and flooding like this it's no surprise. Not enough take flooding seriously
People have to experience to believe unfortunately sometimes. "1000 year flood event" doesn't really resonate with people until you quite literally see the water coming at you.
Almost no one living within 100 miles of Asheville experienced the 1916 event other than the extreme locals who may have had stories passed down.
