Can someone explain that tweet to me like I was raised tracking hurricanes on a paper map with grid lines?

We've been waiting for the interior eyewall to overcome a larger outer eyewall. It has, and continues to do that. The eye is warming and the pressure is dropping, which will lead to higher winds in the main band of the eyewall.

You see, some people just aren't very bright.

So a hurricane's most efficient means of sucking in heat is to have a badass, symmetric eyewall. The wind helps pick up more water and the process re-enforces it's self. Very very basically.

Most of the night and even this morning, there were two bands fighting to be the dominant one. This lead to the structural issues and the slow strengthening. That appears to be over, as the inner band is dominant now. Firing off lighting, indicating explosive convection.

In addition, the eye is starting the clear out, showing stable air spilling out of the top of the eyewall storms is filling in the middle and warming it. This indicates how powerful those eyewall storms currently are and this is strengthening rapidly now.

Hasn't FEMA already stated they were out of money a few weeks ago?

Howard Frankland might not get built back.

And I can't believe people are still driving across that Matlacha Bridge.

That's not good. Flash Flood warning and the leading edge of the actual hurricane is just getting there.

Well, now I see that it covers the next 8 hours.

I think it’s because of this monster being dealt with, and what people are about to go through and deal with. Until this passes, no one wants to shift their attention and worry to a storm that may or may not develop into anything serious 2 weeks from now. Let this thread do what it’s doing, keep people posted on the disaster at hand we know is happening.

Because it's ridiculous right now, especially in this thread. Start a thread about it.

Cedar Key is above Tampa
Howard Franklin bridge is in Tampa
Anna Maria Oyster is right below St Pete
Matlacha is around Cape Coral
Gasparilla is just SW of Port Charlotte (where Charley and part of Ian went through)
