Big shift to the East. Gonna swing into Georgia and run right over Atlanta.

Would that be delayed by the momentum, pushing the path a little east?

As Duke alluded to, hurricanes and tropical storms do not have momentum. Their movement is controlled by other weather patterns.

People were terrified of Irma not turning north years back because of the “momentum”, but it basically ran into the predicted weather pattern the turned it almost due north into FL.

The shift to the east is saving Atlanta, potentially.

We're going to get through this one, and then worry about what could be the next one. There are a lot of folks who are about to do a lot of suffering with this one.

Its basically like a spinning top right? Might be powerful but takes easiest path of least resistance

Does the shift east bring Jacksonville more into the bad stuff?

Basically three little mini sups in the Port Charlotte area, and any of them could produce a tornado. One big polygon covers it.

Can someone explain that tweet to me like I was raised tracking hurricanes on a paper map with grid lines?

This site is great if warnings on phone aren't working or if power is out...

Yeah hurricanes basically want to go north and then northeast due to the Coriolis effect, but will go elsewhere if steering currents tell them too.
