Which one of the every 3-hour tracks is considered the intermediate advisories?

4 AM, 10 AM, 4 PM and 10 PM (central time) are the full advisories where they update the cone.

1 AM, 7AM, 1 PM and 7PM are intermediate advisories where they just update the position, wind speed, pressure, etc.

seems like a very helpful graphic, it’s the inland watches/warnings that illustrate what’s about to happen post landfall

Seems like if you are prepared then you shouldn’t have to rush to completion.

Recon just got 956.6 extrapolated and 115 knots at flight level just after advisory came out.

It is continuing to strengthen.

Talk about the most inconvenient timing.

Hitting at a very awkward time of night

People will be dog tired but unable to sleep.

People will want to surveil after it passes but will have to wait hours before daylight and hope to get some sleep.

It’s going to be a really long night for these folks

Cajun navy will be there to assist first thing tomorrow morning

It’s still in the “experimental” phase. It’s the usual cone graphic, but with the inland watches and warnings displayed rather than just the watches and warnings on the immediate coast.

I'm liking it so far. It should help convey the actual threat and scale of the hazards. It should roll out fully next year, unless they decide to take another year to tweak it after feedback.

My parents sold their place at Cape San Blas this year but live not very far north of there. They will definitely be under tornado threat.

Im guessing the NHC did not have time to verify. The data timestamp from the plane was 17:58:30 for the pressure and 18:05:30 for the max wind. They were flying west to east and had to get to the eastern eyewall in those 7 minutes.

No.

They'll update as soon as they got some data point to confirm it.
