this would seem to be a great example of being counter productive

Is this the intro to a research report for your community college class?

I usually do grocery pickup for free at Walmart. They are getting better at it (been at it for about 5 years now) and I am not a food snob like most people are I guess. As long as it is edible, what I ordered, and not rotten - I’m usually ok with their choices on those items where not all items are the same.

It is in Walmart’s best interest for customers to enjoy the experience, they aren’t going to give you rotten meat lol.

HEB is bad arse, my little cousin worked at one and made $18 hour to bag groceries and take groceries to cars. Got tips too. I wish my high school job paid so well.

And increases labor costs. They have a dedicated department that literally spends all day shopping and loading the groceries into cars.

It really isn't worth the cost, but it's one of those "the competition does it so we have to" things.

You pay for the curbside pick-up. They are not losing money on this I can assure you.

In east Tennessee near Knoxville, there's no charge for pick up so long as a minimum order is placed. It's $35 at one store, $50 at another.

Maybe they are saving on stopping shoplifters or maybe just making it easier to see the shoplifters on the in the store security systems.

Your first mistake was believing any of the companies who are pushing for self checkout are going to lower costs for consumers instead of just pocketing the savings.

the super store,, cloud 9,, is a Walmart spoof that has been running for several years. months ago they did a one hour program on the perils of providing curb side service. the store lost control of the process and it was funny having every store employee chasing curb items

That show is absolutely spot on in how they portray retail work.

I have Kroger & Costco deliver. With Kroger, the e-coupons automatically matches with the items I’m buying cover the $10 delivery fee and usually more - I never use coupons when I actually go to the store so I consider it a push. For Costco. That $10 fee is usually covered by all the stuff I would buy on impulse when I actually go myself. Our mine they grocery bill has actually slightly decreased since I’ve started doing this (again, mostly due to no add-one when walking around the store) and it’s delivered at my convenience.
