Healthcare shouldn't be for profit

So it’s replacing one surgery procedure. That’s good but hardly reshaping the industry. If it has long term impacts on other diseases and treatments then it will truly reshape things. Still not sure what happens if you stop taking it.

It’s not like doctors were intentionally fattening patients or encouraging them to stay fat or keeping them fat for profit. Americans certainly don’t need any coaxing

Americans just do not have the ability or willingness or whatever, largely, to lose and keep off weight.

To be fair… while the average doctor has nothing to do with American dietary standards and recommendations, “doctors” have definitely shaped them through policy, lobbying, and advocation of such wonderful breakthroughs of “eggs are bad”, “eat more bread”, “low fat”, “sugar substitute is good”, etc…

Surprised it's not more than that. Hospital where I work use to do them all the time, there was only one done in the last six months.

It doesn’t say anything about their opinion on the matter

If they cured cancer the hospitals would go broke.
Look how many dialysis clinics there are. So many places for treatment. The industry Durant want cures.

Its just easier to gain weight than its ever been. That's really all there is to it.

Weight was always hard to lose because your body fights against you when trying. Your hormone levels drop, you have less energy to workout, you get more hungry.

We are a nation of commuters that is less active than we have been in the past (like everywhere else), we have abundant access to unhealthy food that also happens to cheap, and more people spend all day at a desk than ever before. The average commute is 27 minutes.... Just between a desk job and your drive to and from work that's 9-10 hours on your arse every day.

File Allocation Table. It's a road map for any modern disc drive (Not just hard drives). It's been around since the 70's....

GLPs aren’t permanent and carry risks, but they are still a net plus for overweight patients. I’m still resisting, lol. Losing weight the old fashion way with calorie restriction.

Meanwhile insurance providers (and pharmacy benefits managers especially) claim that it's too expensive to cover.

Healthcare is a business no different than a 5 min oil change business.

No customers, no money.

You really think these people go into healthcare for the betterment of mankind?

The richest industry in America complaining about revenue. That's rich.

If that trend prevails at scale, hospitals would see fewer procedures, repeat admissions, complications and other downstream interventions – leading to a sizable reduction in demand for those services.

Someone remind me what happens to the price of a product when the demand of that product goes down.

So when can we expect the cost of healthcare, and by extension healthcare insurance, to go down?

Seems like you’re still trying to assign emotion when it was a fairly objective write up.

I don't know if the healthcare industry is bitching about it. That looks more like the finance bros.
