If you have to go to rehab, then it’s prob already too late.

Just stop drinking its not that hard. Why would you need to go to a rehab facility to do this. Just dont keep alcohol in the house.

Amazing insight. A true possible breakthrough in the complicated realm of alcoholism. You should consider a book and do some public speaking, maybe a career change.

I used to think like this. I don’t have the post, But there was a poster here considering rehab. Basically told everyone that he drank like 10 beers a night. If he tried to drink 5 he’d get the shakes and be in agonizing pain and unable to function. So he had to keep drinking. It’s not as easy as just quitting. That made me realize that at some point, it isn’t just a choice. There’s an actual dependency that forms

I can understand rehab for hardcore drugs, or someone that got hooked on opioids after being prescribed, etc.

I don’t get it for alcohol. If you can’t quit alcohol on your own, I don’t see where going to some isolated resort for a few weeks will change that.

Alcohol withdrawal can kill somebody if they aren’t detoxed correctly

You should do self help seminars. No reason to give this type of transcendent wisdom away for free

You can do it. When you get out, keep doing it one day at a time.

Ok soooooo maybe try to cut one out by going to 9 a night, and then 8, and so on and so on. Then see how that goes.

Sure rehab can help, but the bigger problem is being to weak to fix the problem on ones own. Do that, with positive support when needed, then it will be good. Not expecting rehab to be a fix all or just a dependence transfer to them.

You think you can understand, but the problem is you don't understand.

Among many other reasons, you really need to be watched and controlled when detoxing from alcohol because it is one of the rare things that will quite literally kill you if you are dependent and decide to quit cold turkey.

Yeh...give an alcoholic 9 beers and then depend on him/her to have the self control to not drink that 10th. Seems fool proof.
