Ok soooooo maybe try to cut one out by going to 9 a night, and then 8, and so on and so on. Then see how that goes.
Sure rehab can help, but the bigger problem is being to weak to fix the problem on ones own. Do that, with positive support when needed, then it will be good. Not expecting rehab to be a fix all or just a dependence transfer to them.
Why do you comment on something you have no clue about? There are studies on this. Your underlying point isn't terrible, but way to oversimolify it though.

Take this from a hard core alcoholic for 15 years. If you really want to quit you will. If you think you should quit.....you won’t make it. You have to WANT to quit. I quit once for 48 days because I thought I should because my life was becoming destructive. The problem was at the time deep down I didn’t want to. Went to AA but each day of those 48 days only got worse and almost actually physically painful. It wasn’t until three years later when I had had enough and really wanted to stop that I’ve been successful so far. Over two years sober and don’t have a single ounce of desire to drink again. Going back to drinking for me is like deciding I want to go back to prison. Zero desire. I am truly blessed.

Done.
So far you've overcome the biggest obstacle by admitting you have a problem and need to deal with it.

Curious. What was your drinking history? Was it daily? Was it beer or liquor or both? Binge drinking & doing stupid, unwise things.
I only ask to gauge it to how much I drink. Yes I know people have different make-ups.

Been to rehab myself. Just made two years sober. Got married , had my first son, and am really doing well with work since I got my shite together and gave up booze. Barely even miss it anymore. You got this. Best of luck.

Of course dependency occurs with alcohol abuse and the withdrawals can be fatal. Only morons say shite like “just quit”.

On day 20 sober now. It's not easy but you have to take it 24 hours at a time, sometimes 24 minutes or seconds at a time

Prayers to the suffering alcoholic...
You can do this man. In a couple weeks I'll be 13 years removed from booze. Life is so much better but its going to be tough for a while.
Don't give up. Alcoholism only wins when you quit trying to get better

Praying for you my friend.
I’ve never shared this on this site but I had an addiction problem for several years.
I had cancer in my late teens to early 20s and had many surgeries. Before I knew it I was hooked on strong pain medication. It shocked me how fast it happened. I struggled with addiction for 7 years then got clean.
Stayed clean for 2 years then lost my wife to cancer at age 29. Ended up relapsing that lasted for a year, then got clean and have been ever since. It’ll be 6 years clean in July, God willing.
Not going to sugarcoat it. It’s hard. You have to want it and you have to have a relationship with God. At least that’s what saved me. I don’t go to meetings anymore, which I wouldn’t suggest but I have a great relationship with God and lucky to have the family and friends I have.
Professionally, I would have never thought in a million years I’d be in the position I’m in. I’ve truly been blessed and it’s all due to God.
Good luck. Stay strong. You have to want this
