What about celebrating those who fought to form a country in which the institution of slavery was encouraged?

There wouldn't have been a civil war if Washington would have nipped it in the bud and outlawed slavery from the start.

I wouldnt waste anymore of your time. They're arguing what they've been told to be outraged about. Theyre not consistent in their ideas.

Whine about one set of inanimate objects, then move along to the next set things they're told to be upset about. Next it will be Jackson, Rushmore/other monuments, buildings. Just a matter of time.

Like I said, This isn't about fear, racism or oppression. It's about retribution and a feeling of payback, no matter if it has zero affect on living persons now, no matter how moronic and useless the notion is.

Totally or I'm focusing on him because he's one of the founding fathers and our first president but sure I believe Washington was a God and the founding lies totally at his feet and no one else's

And you'll defend some ideal you know nothing about by spouting off talking points.

Find some sort of consistency in your argument and I might take you seriously.

Right. I've been the one saying that Mt Rushmore was erected to celebrate slavery or that the statue in Jackson square is to celebrate AJ killing indians.

At no point did I even say being a slave owner should prevent you from having a statue erected.

It's not our fault you've refused to actually understand what the argument is.

Sure it's inconsistent to say the confederates need to come down because they owned slaves but not other slave owners.

But that's not the argument anyone is making in this thread. I know y'all want it to be, but it's not. Sorry.

Why are they selling National Forrest?

Does new owner plan on keeping it as sacred ground, no building???

Isn't Forrest buried under that?

They moved him a while back.

Nope. Forrest is still buried in Health Sciences Park.

Of course, now that the park is privately owned, they can probably get away with moving his body as well. I don't see what the big deal in moving him is anyways. They can put him in a place like Elmwood Cemetery which has a ton of other Confederate burials.

Forrest was originally buried in Elmwood.

He wanted to be buried in Elmwood.

He was moved for political reasons that he probably never wished for long after his death.

He should return to Elmwood.

It is understood that Washington has an opportunity to be king or at least ruler for as long as he wanted. Pretty sure his words or opinions would have carried an enormous weight if he had wanted.
