LOL, nothing open about it. I'd guess you're just fine with that, though.

It was passed in a public meeting.

Not defending anything. I just think the whole statue removal thing is stupid and accomplishes nothing.

Would you honestly give a damn if this wasn't a confederate statue?

The only snowflakes involved in this are idiots who think taking down statues is going to change anything.

Nice to know you're OK with fascist government.

With no discussion. The public had no idea what these fascists were voting on.

But you're OK with that. Guess you must have missed Civics class or didn't care.

If it helped a large percentage of the population feel less threatened by their government, I think it changed something

Yes, I would think it's stupid and accomplishes nothing.

State groups are now saying this directly violates the Tennessee Heritage Protection Act as well as Federal preservation of historical gravesites

If the government put up a Hitler statue in the middle of NYC you wouldn't call that threatening?

This is pretty much the only win the vermin can get - attacking inanimate objects

Hahaha, yes because I think removing statues is stupid and accomplishes nothing. If that makes me a racist bigot, then I'll proudly wear that label.

You must own a jump to conclusions mat.

Other people don't think it's stupid and believe it accomplishes a great deal. But your opinion is more important than theirs?

The Confederacy was not Nazi Germany, and I am not aware that any present local, state or national government is threatening any black people.

Most of these statues were paid for by private enterprises which then donated the statues to the government / public trust.

Why don't the governments simply give them back to the organizations that donated them?

Many people said when this started that it would accomplish nothing and that it would make the situation worse. It would only embolden people to make more (and sillier) demands. This has all come true.

So tell us exactly what it has accomplished?

Probably some truth to this. Still doesn't mean we should be idolizing statues of racists.

Umm, we're not adorning statues of racists anymore?

Why do you care what the fate of these statues are? Do you have a financial stake in them?

You really are a simpleton, aren't you?

So anyone who you think is "racist" is just completely worthless? Are you aware that PGT Beauregard and Nathan Bedford Forrest atoned for these "sins"?

People's thoughts and beliefs evolve over time. Theirs certainly did. But people like you are fanatics who think some things are absolutely unforgivable.

I really distrust people like you, you'd turn on just about anyone for any reason.

Uh nope. What's the statue gonna do? Chase me? Is the statue gonna beat me up? Rob me? Kill me?

Will the statue hunt me down? Will it cause me to lose a job? Not buy a house? What actual, tangible effect does a statue have on someone?

Also... Name ANY militaristic figure immortilized in a statue. ANY of them. US history. European history. African. Asian. Middle ages. Antiquity. Doesn't matter.

Name ANY militaristic figure immortilized via statue and I will tell you how that person is a giant pile of shite and doesn't deserve a statue.

Go ahead. Try to find one that is 100% perfectly clean. I'll wait.

No one is idolizing the statues.Anyone that thinks this whole statue movement is productive is a dullard. If it gives them a false sense of accomplishment, then good for them....I guess.
