Either you are for taking down statues of slave owners or you aren't. Why try to muddy the waters? Slavery is bad. And any statue of a slave owner should come down.

They are being recognized for their efforts to maintain the status quo of slavery.
Doesn't even matter if they owned slaves. Y'all are so hung up on this slave owner angle for some reason.
It's not about individual slave owners. It's about not celebrating those fought to keep the institution of slavery.

There wouldn't have been a civil war if Washington would have nipped it in the bud and outlawed slavery from the start.
