Was taking a stereo apart as a young child one afternoon.

It was on that day I learned about how excess voltage can be stored in a capacitor when unplugged.

Much more careful since then. If I need to do do any kind of electrical work, Ill just kill power to whole house.

ETA: No real current flowing through and certainly nothing like this:

I'm shocked how many people don't know that electrocution results in death.

Been zapped a few times over the years. Nothing bad, just startling.

But when I was 10, we were in the middle of a baseball game when a sudden storm blew in. We all ran to a nearby pavillion. Players, coaches, and spectators. One of the coaches on the other team had been arguing with the home plate ump during the game and was pretty close to being tossed from the park when the storm came. We were all under the pavillion except the umpires who were fast walking to get there. The home plate ump got struck by lightning. The coach he had been arguing with was standing near me with his arms crossed bitching to one of the parents from his team about the umpire. Soon as it happened most people gasped and started freaking out. But not that man. All he could say kind of under his breath was “Good.” I might have been the only one to hear it. The ump actually lived but I’ll never forget that guy muttering “good” when it happened. Like that lightning strike of the ump was divine proof that he was right.

Got lit up by a 110 outlet once. Turned the the breaker for the kitchen off and got lazy with checking everything. One was on a different breaker for some reason and lit me up. I'm too dumb to mess with that sh*t.

That's why I leave electricity to the professionals.

If I were smart it would have only taken me one electrocution to start doing that.

No, and no one else in this thread has.

Electrocuted = death.

Shocked on the other hand....

Too many times by 110v than I care to count.

Twice by 220v, once knocking me to the ground pretty hard. Felt like someone hit both of my arms with a bat simultaneously. It was a welding machine with a skinned lead, thrown over the bucket of a snorkel lift I was climbing into, the structure was grounded. I grabbed the bucket to climb in and grabbed the structure. BOOM, knocked to the ground.

My Dad was working on a line crew, back in the early 70’s. Another guy was in a bucket truck. He had told them to power the circuit back up. They did, he had one thing to remove, his arms got hit by the live lines. My Dad called in to get an ambulance headed that way, the guy was in a bucket truck, as my Dad was operating the truck, to come straight down with the bucket, it was pulling the guy out of the bucket. So he went straight up with the bucket, getting him away from to lines. Once on the ground. He cleaned out his mouth starting CPR. Not long help arrived, they continued, got him to the hospital. The guy lived. He died about 20 plus years later. He would have left his wife with, I think, 5 or 6 kids.

When I was playing high school football we used to have our kicker sit on top of a bus and film the live scrimmage part of practice. We were finishing up one day when rain started coming in but we kept going. Lightning struck a tree behind the bus and the kicker was knocked off the top of the bus. Coach called practice at that point. Hit the showers.

Seeing your question I thought what a dumb question to ask. I didn't think that not everyone works on their own stuff or is in a blue collar career.

I can't remember how many times I've been electrocuted. I've been zapped by coils on lawnmowers, ATVs, and vehicles. I've been hit by 120 rewiring stuff around the house. I've been shocked by a welding lead numerous times. No telling how many times an electric fence has got me.

When we were kids we'd hold the leads of an old telephone crank just to see who could hold it the longest.

110 a handful of times. 220, nope, breaker off and double checked on that one.

My brother in law got hit by 480 when some dumbass removed his lock out. He worked for a company that built giant cardboard compactors.

Blew him off the scaffold (10 feet high) and burned all the hair off his body and all his finger and toe nails came off. He was in intensive care for weeks. I dont know how he survived.

We had a portable office at my last job that wasn't grounded properly. One day while it was raining i grabbed the door knob and got smoked. Not sure exactly what happened but It woke me up.

try getting hit with 240v or fricking lightning.

I get hit with 480v at least once a week working on these ragged old panel boxes I have on the fish farm

One blew up in my face about 2 weeks ago when I threw the circuit breaker up. Burnt holes in my PFG and the hair off my arms

I’ve been hit so many times it hardly bothers me
