This shouldn’t be a political thing since it influences how we live our day to day lives (Ironic, I know). Has anyone here changed their opinion? Have you gotten more pessimistic or positive? When do you think this pandemic will be over?

I don’t think rights should be sacrificed ever. Ever. Ever. Especially in an emergency. That’s when they’re needed most. If anyone is coming around trying to convince you to relinquish constitutional rights for the greater good, they aren’t after any greater good.

More like my suspicions were confirmed.

It's definitely a real thing.

But it's been blown out of proportion and used for some fricked up shite.

It's an easily transmitted virus with an extremely low rate of fatality that is being used to control the population.

No. I literally said as soon as the fake news media started acting like it was doomsday in March that this was entirely bull shite and would last way longer than it needed to.

Here we are almost a year later

Yeah that’s what I feel but I didn’t want to put it in the OP to get it moved to PT. I wish we could ask politically-charged things here to get a more honest opinion. Though this wouldn’t be political if it weren’t for a certain party

The virus hasn't shut down businesses and schools, policies have.

I'm glad Andrew Cuomo is finally being called out for his shite, granted much too late and all for political reasons. Hopefully he and his administration burn for it, but I'm not hopeful for this.

But my opinion hasn't changed since July/August. They are going to drum up the fear as much as possible, bowing to the latest "science" even if it contradicts long "proven" science.

No. I think it is worse than the flu and some public measures should have been encouraged, but the number and broad extent of shutdowns that crushed people financially were handled incorrectly

If a Democrat was president and it wasn't an election year there wouldn't have been any shutdowns, just an emphasis on good hygiene/hand washing etc and life would have gone on as usual.

Yes

I think it's even less dangerous and more blown out of proportion now. And I thought this was all bullshite last March.

Science is a crapshoot getting refined. At one point we were all putting leaches on our bodies because the smartest of our day though that it would get the “bad blood” out. We should never relinquish rights over something a scientist says until the scientific method is fully realized. And especially when we have a 100 years of scientific viral research that shouldn’t just be thrown out.

ETA: And when this virus reeeeeaaaaalllyyy* doesn’t seem natural.

* Emphasis on the “really”

Well...my Uncle was put in the hospital with it this weekend when his blood ox level dropped. I know 3 people who have died from it over the last year. So, no. Mine hasn't changed.

Know a few folks that have died from it, all older than 60 years old, but 2/3 were in their 60s and healthy, thin, and active. Also know dozens of young people that got it with no lasting impact and minimal symptoms.

Virus is real, but we should've just isolated the older people and folks with comorbidities from the very beginning and let the rest of us live our lives. We'd be in a much better place right now had we done that. We'd have herd immunity amongst the young and healthy.

After what, a month, we knew it was basically affecting old and unhealthy people. So since like April, no, my opinion has not changed
