No. I think it is worse than the flu and some public measures should have been encouraged, but the number and broad extent of shutdowns that crushed people financially were handled incorrectly

At first I thought the response was justifiable since there was so little known about the virus. As time went along, sort of surprised about the continued policies.

Granted on paper everyone says we are still doing the same things. But in everyday life seems like the majority have just moved on and dont really worry about it anymore.

Do you think that humanity hasn’t been through viruses before or that we should just stop the world for something that our ancestors would’ve shrugged off? I’m a Gen Z guy and know that China doesn’t give two shits when it comes to world domination. We’ve become too comfortable and soft. The working class leveraged the Bubonic plague into higher wages and we’re sitting around hoping we never have to work again

ETA: My dad caught it and hasn’t been the same since, still think we shouldn’t lock down. I’ll probably lose him before I’m 25. We should be blaming China, not the restaurant owner down the street.

Pessimistic
Every day that goes by gets worse from listening to my Grandpa slowly go downhill in a nursing home
Residents have been vaccinated for 3 weeks (both shots) & they are no where close to allowing visitors
They have to have no positive cases for 14 days but with the state reporting that only 38% of nursing home staff took the shot it doesn’t seem likely that there will be 0 cases anytime soon

Well the good news is even though obesity kills 1.5 million every year, that number should go down now because they can attribute a third of those to Covid now.

Back in November my sister and I tested positive on the same day, followed by my parents, my wifes parents, my wifes sister, and my daughter. 8 of us total.

So in that sense, yes my thoughts on it changed a little bit, in terms of how easily it's contracted.

But the idea of continuing to live your day to day life hasn't changed. The government should let people make their own decisions.

You mean back when many experts predicted ~250k deaths and people called them hyperbolic, yet now we stand at 500k deaths?

Also, I'll add that shuttering schools will go down as one of the biggest frick ups in American history. There will be millions of children developmentally "behind" from this.

And now the Feds are finally admitting it is safer for them to be in school than at home, which the American Academy of Pediatrics said last Summer.

It's hogwash.

6 months ago was September and this thing was fully politicized by then

we also had plenty of data to who it affected by then

so no, I don't think anyone has changed their opinion in the last 6 months

if you were taking it seriously in September, you are still taking it seriously

if you didn't care in September, you still don't care

which is why the continued restrictions are dumb, as they are literally not doing anything other than harming businesses

And teachers unions in many blue states and cities are still fighting like hell to keep from having to go back to the classroom.

Well, being out of work for a month with it, I found it's not "Just a cold" like many said.
